On 8/25, there was a hearing in the lawsuit filed by former Deputy Public Rory Kalin against Humboldt Superior Court Judge Gregory Elvine-Kreis, Public Defender Luke Brownfield and former Public Defender Marek Reavis.

Listed below is the notice for the 8/25 hearing as well as the court minutes from the 8/25 hearing. The court clerk summarized the hearing and I am only adding some remarks made by Mendocino Superior Court Judge Ann Moorman.

Judge Moorman said that the matter on calendar did not pertain to Brownfield and Reavis; only to defendant Elvine-Kreis.

"I am prepared to grant the motion for reconsideration. In doing so, we are going back to square one."

"There was some confusion about what the Court expected from defense counsel. It is not what I intended. I read the minutes. I understand."

"The ruling is not based on anything submitted by plaintiff's counsel."

"This is not a case where absolute work privilege applies," said Judge Moorman.

Motion to compel is scheduled for 9/12. Previously, a CMC was scheduled for that date. Dates and types of hearing change often in this case.
