Adina, your attack on me backfired, I was sent a lot of intel exposing you and Humboldt should read it before you waste Humboldt time and money like you did in Sonoma

Last week, I did this post. I got comments from everyone involved including City of Eureka, Councilmembers, Roy Gomez and Adina Flores. I did not have to add the disclaimer about the anonymous site about Flores but I would do that any anonymous site, especially with no evidence to back their claims. In the March 26 post, I wrote about a restraining order granted against one of Flores' ex which was requested by Sonoma County.

https://trellis.law/case/scv-270641/county-sonoma-vs-dodson

Adina's attempt to attack me backfired on her. I received a lot of intel on her from all over California. Now that Sonoma has kicked her to the curb and she has lost all credibility, Adina thinks she can come here and waste Humboldt's time. Some information I could verify, some information is there for you to look up yourself and come to your own conclusions.

Who is funding Adina? If anyone in or associated with Humboldt is behind Adina's stunts and focus on Humboldt, are they prepared to pay any legal and financial costs she may incur? Stirring up drama, requesting PRAs from counties she does not live in seems to be Adina's shtick. And this is based just on my own experience with Adina in less than a week.

Antivaxxer, transphobe, conspiracy theorist, stalker, homophobe, filing 160 FPPC complaints which the tipster claims were usually found without merit, 75 + PRAs, harassing supervisors, mayors, reporters and disparaging anyone who does not agree with her. Readers can look at all of what is provided in the emails sent to me and the irrelevant attacks on me by Adina and anyone can use google and come to their own determinations.

I don't know Adina but she seems to know information about me that is irrelevant to the coverage. Readers are making their own conclusions about Adina. I want to thank those of you who have reached out to me and expressed concern for my safety.

Humboldt already has resident nutcases, antivaxxers, racists, homophobes, transphobes and Kent Sawatzky filing PRAs that waste time and money. We don't need someone Sonoma kicked to the curb to come pollute Humboldt.

Roy Gomez responded to me about Adina and that response is included in the March 26 post. He has been very respectful to me and has never lashed out at me for my coverage. This is a message Roy sent to me after his response.

If people are being downtrodden and mistreated, it's our obligation, it's our responsibility to speak out, not just for ourselves but for others.

Judge Joyce Hinrichs thinks this violent criminal with an extensive prior record should get probation?

Two years later, Russell Holt resolves his case. On 3/25, it was the 60th day and the case had been trailing for assignment. Holt pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter, assault likely to produce great bodily injury and one special allegation. The other two special allegations were dismissed. I included his criminal record in previous coverage. Judge Joyce Hinrichs thinks this violent criminal with an extensive prior record should get probation? Sentencing is on 4/22.

I named two deputies in the Martinez OIS shooting, two months later all we get is this one video with selective clips?

In January, I did this post identifying two deputies involved. I mentioned Deputy Waxler and Ross. EPD confirmed those names later.

https://johnchiv.blogspot.com/2024/01/hey-john-one-of-two-deputies-involved.html?m=1#more

Today, two months later, HCSO released body cam footage of the Daniel Martinez OIS shooting. All we get is one video with some selective clips? We should know whose camera worked. The battery ran out excuse has been used before by more than one local law enforcement agency. I am pro law enforcement but not the increasing lack of transparency, excuses why good deputies and officers in Humboldt transfer, leave or retire. Then we have a few good men and women left who bear the brunt of the same bad apples whose names pop up in lawsuits.

Two of the deputies in the Widmark OIS part of another lawsuit against the County, one of them was also involved in a federal civil rights lawsuit the County settled

I am the only one to cover and report on the Greenleaf Nurseries lawsuit. Yesterday I was checking on that case yesterday and there is relevance to the Widmark case. The defendants in the Greenleaf Nursuries lawsuit are County of Humboldt HCSO, Sheriff William Honsal and four HCSO deputies are defendants.

Sgt. Conan Moore and Deputy Chad Crotty were mentioned by Sheriff Honsal when he was answering questions yesterday after Ms. Andrea Sullivan's press conference on the Widmark case.

Sgt. Moore and Deputy Crotty are two of the defendants in the Greenleaf Nurseries lawsuit. Moore was also one of two deputies in a federal civil rights lawsuit alleging police brutality, false arrest, First Amendment retaliation, and malicious prosecution. Humboldt County settled the lawsuit.

Since my last post on the Greenleaf Nurseries lawsit, attorneys mostly keep requesting case management conferences and continuances. On 11/17/23, attorneys requested another CMC. The CMC on 3/18/24  was continued to 7/19/24. Dates and minutes alone are just one portion of a case. I checked documents filef and on March 25, 2024, Judge Timothy Canning denied the defendants'  motion to strike motions of the second amended complaint.

Jurors did not hear about Lt. Williams affair, deliberations started yesterday afternoon

Brett Watson files for divorce, may sue City of Arcata

Brett Watson was at the courthouse recently. I received a tip that he is considering suing the City of Arcata. Brett Watson filed for divorce from Mary Watson last month.

I contacted Arcata City Manager Karen Diemer to ask if the City of Arcata had received anything from Watson. Despite another email follow up to City of Arcata's Communication Specialist Logan Roselli and a phone call to Diemer, I still have not heard anything as of 4/3.

HCSO footage of Widmark OIS footage edited? HCSO deputies told not to write reports are some of the claims made at press conference by Jesse Widmark's attorney

(Ms. Andrea Sullivan)

I have been regularly reporting on Brandon and Jesse Widmark court cases. On January 25, I reported that the assault case against Brandon Widmark was dismissed by the People. The Widmark brothers, Brandon and Jesse, have two 2023 cases as co-defendants. They were held to answer to charges in both cases after the preliminary hearing. They were arraigned on information. Trial confirmation in both cases is scheduled on 6/11; jury trial on 6/24.

Jesse Widmark is represented by Ms. Andrea Sullivan. Brandon Widmark is represented by Ms. Rebecca Linkous.

This morning, Ms. Sullivan held  a press conference in the theater at the Carson block building. Ms. Sullivan started by summarizing the background of footage. I have uploaded a video clip played to Facebook. The screenshots above are from Ms. Sullivan's presentation. The raw footage is from discovery provided to the defense.

Sheriff William Honsal is here. Investigator Cisco Lassiter is here and he is working on this case. Raw footage played today was provided through discovery. Sheriff Honsal did respond to media questions after the press conference. He thanked Ms. Sullivan for allowing him to be present today after the press conference and again when he spoke with media who attended outside.

County hires Foley & Lardner LLP in lawsuit filed last

On March 20, I was the first to report on this lawsuit filesd on 3/15 in Sacramento Superior Court. One part of my PRA response was answered last week about this lawsuit being on today's BOS agenda.

Today, I received an answer to the second part of my PRA request. Mr. Adam J. Hepworth from Foley & Lardner LLP will represent the County in this lawsuit. Foley and Lardner have offices nationwide  including LA, Sacramento and San Francisco.

Guns, infidelity and law enforcement training highlighted in jury selection and opening statements in Lt. Sam Williams trial

Twelve jurors, 4 men and 8 women were sworn in HCSO Lt. Sam Williams jury trial yesterday at 11:25 a.m. Alternate jurors were questioned until lunch. Court resumed at 1:30 and alternate jurors, two men and two women were sworn in at 1:45. Judge Timothy Canning read opening instructions to the jury. Deputy District Candace Myers gave her opening statement. Deputy Public Defender David Celli gave his opening statement. The first People's witness was Danielle Williams, Lt. Williams' wife. She does not look like her facebook profile photo I included in a previous post which is obviously not a recent photo. She was speaking very softly and confirmed they are still married. The second People's witness was Brian Kelsey, Jr. the alleged victim and Danielle Williams' lover.

No other media was in court and no one else in the audience.

The Earl Castillo jury started deliberating on 3/21. This afternoon, the jury came back with a mixed verdict on the remaining counts. Not guilty on Count 8. Not guilty on Count 1 as charged but guilty of a lesser offense and guilty on remaining counts. Sentencing is on 4/12.

Temporary restraining order requested by Danco granted, Bollman also charged with criminal threats against Dan Johnson, she now has 11 open cases

Keeping up with Aunna Bollman's cases is getting ridiculous. She needs to be placed back in custody. Bollman now has a Eureka address in court records.

She has 11 open cases. This includes the two restraining orders already requested and granted by the County and City of Fortuna. The threats and violence documented in petition are vulgar, specific graphic with poop emojis on several attached documents. Bollman was evicted by Danco.

This morning, there was a hearing in one of her 9  cases to modify the protective order filed by Conflict Counsel. She is charged with assault and elder abuse in the case on calendar this morning. The motion was denied and the preliminary hearing is scheduled for 4/17.

While checking on that case, I saw a request for  restraining order filed by Harland Law Firm and Bollman is to be arraigned on that case on 3/29. Commissioner Sarah Kaber already granted Danco's request for a temporary restraining order. There is also a criminal case filed for PC 422 criminal threats against Dan Johnson filed with arraignment and bond status on 4/17 when all her other cases are scheduled.

St. Bernards parishioner Josephine Silva is suing Redwood Acres

Community assistance leads to EPD arresting burglary suspect

On March 19, 2024, a Community Service Officer (CSO) with the Eureka Police Department was dispatched to the 1700 block of I Street on a report of a residential burglary. The investigation revealed the theft occurred during the night on March 18, 2024, and a large quantity of construction equipment had been taken from a job site.

This is the first preliminary hearing I have covered where a defendant remained shackled

Amber Mcdavit is her legal name. Amber is her alias. This is the women who was arrested by Eureka Police Department after she forced entry into an apartment on 2nd Street and barricaded herself inside.

On 3/19, McDavit had a preliminary hearing in one of her three cases. Retired Judge Marilyn Miles  held her to answer to PC 459 burglary. This is the first preliminary hearing I have covered where a defendant remained shackled.

Deputy Public Defender David Nims asked for McDavit to be unshackled. Deputy District Attorney Brandon Boozari objected. HCSO Sgt. Josh Comer said McDavit is classified as a dangerous and violent inmate. A 402 hearing was held with HCSO Supervising Deputy Sgt. Brewer testifying. Judge Miles ruled only McDavit's right hand be unshackled.

Another workplace violence restraining order filed by the County against a 60 year old Shelter Cove woman

The County of Humboldt requested and was granted such an order against Fortuna resident Aunna Bollman. This petition is against Shelter Cove's Kathleen Marcotulli.

The petition claims, "The respondent calls different offices at Humboldt County to complain. The complaining has now turned into specific criminal threats of violence."

The petition says Marcotulli can come to the Courthouse for regular business but must notify HCSO of the time and purpose. Ousted Judge Gregory Kreis granted the temporary restraining order. The petition has specific threats against the County employee at the Assesor's office. According to that employee, Marcotulli claimed to be the head of Islam and Queen of Iran in recent voicemails. There are some vulgar and specific violent threats listed in the petition. I don't know if criminal charges have been filed for the allegations in this petition but if they are, just like the Bollman cases; defense will probably try for mental health diversion.

In 2022, I did a post on Kathleen Ann Marcotulli who was arrested  by HCSO for resisting arrest and criminal threats. The age of this Kathleen Marcotulli fits with the one mentioned in the Humboldt county petition filed January 26, 2024.

With 8,722 unprocesed ballots left and over 60% lead, Judge April Van Dyke is the winner

The third post election report added approximately $11,000 more ballots. The total is 38, 868 votes.

Nothing changed in the Humboldt Superior Court Judge race. Ms. April Van Dyke is the clear winner with 60. 97 % of the vote.

Humboldt County Registrar of Voters, Clerk and Recorder Juan Cervantes told me 8,722 unprocessed ballots are left. Of those 355 are provisional, 360 are vote by mail  and 211 in person ballots that need to be scanned.

Ex HCSO deputy Jason Daniels granted arbitration award in lawsuit against County and HCSO

(Facebook)

Who remembers ex HCSO Deputy Jason Daniels and his 2016 case. A jury found him found not guilty on all counts in a case where he was arrested for alleged sexual assault. His Facebook profile lists him as retired. Last month, Judge Timothy Canning granted Daniel's petition for arbitration award against the County of Humboldt and Humboldt County Sherriff's office.

Area Man, the only gossip is the rag you comment on and from insiders like you who still read and use my information

I post court records, facts, observations and what I write including my opinions are backed by specifics and evidence. Calling  truth, facts and observations inconvenient to you Area Man and anyone else I write about does not make it gossip. Insiders like you are just embarassed and frustrated that your tactics to shut me up and bully me don't work.

Exposing abuse of power, bad business practices, criminals and the dirty laundry that exposes fake lives and personas in this county is behind every attack. Area man, what you and others are pissed about is that facts counter the "success" and"image" some parade around in this small county while denying how they treat others. You are a hypocrite and judgemental. Look at the anon comments from you and those who attack me and anyone challenging the Humboldt status quo. Like slimy snakes you hide behind a screen so you avoid consequences and can say whatever you want. Typical dirty Humboldt smears by bullies and abusers. You use your positions and inside knowledge to hurt innocent people with your gossip and you are angry that through actual reporting and court records; your dirty deeds are being brought out in the open.

And predictably, the same people I mention in this post will continue their anonymous attacks. Every anon comment in Humboldt is the same cesspool of insiders and losers.  Spineless anons who won't use their names or we would see how many local "media" employees and friends, people with connections to the County, the courts, law enforcement, investigators from the criminal justice system and good ole boys post comment on this rag, Humboldt Reddit and Nextdoor.

At least my District Supervisor is cheerful and professional unlike the other 4

I was at the Courthouse today. As I was walking out the first time, Fifth District Supervisor Steve Madrone walked in and looked grumpy. Outside was First District Supervisor Rex Bohn guffawing as usual and schmoozing it up with two of ousted Gregory Kreis' endorsers and members of law enforcement.

County and CA Department of Health Care sued for long delays in providing low income residents with mental healthcare

Yesterday, I received this tip via email.

"Dear Mr. Chiv, Our lawsuit was just filed last week, and I do not know of any other news outlet that has picked up this story yet."

"Humboldt County’s Department of Health and Human Services fails to provide the County’s Medi-Cal residents with the specialty mental health care that they need. State and federal law require Humboldt County, along with every other county in the State, to provide Medi-Cal patients with any specialty mental health services that are medically necessary within ten to fifteen business days of a patient’s request. However, Humboldt County knowingly maintains a mental health system that places Medi-Cal patients on indefinite waitlists, causing patients to wait more than six months for essential mental health care."

This is the first paragraph from the introduction in the petition for writ of administrative mandate and mandate.

Humboldt County and the California Department of Health Care Services have 30 days to file a response. California is required to do an audit every three years Humboldt County was required to have a corrective plan three years ago. I did speak with Mr. Ted Mumford, the attorney from Legal Services of Northern California and will be doing some follow up posts.

I am still waiting for County Counsel to answer their part of my PRA request to see which Humboldt Deputy County Counsel will be handling this matter. Thanks  Cati Gallardo, Public Information Specialist for the County Administrative Office who answered the CAO and BOS portion to my request on 3/21.

"Hi John,

Thanks again for submitting your request for public records. It is currently anticipated that this matter will be added to the Board's Tuesday, March 26 meeting agenda as a closed session item."

First Amended Qualified Domestic Relations Order against Gregory Kreis related to the tip I received last month?

(Kreis in his makeshift yellow bikini)

In March 2024, during the election, I received a tip about the Brenda Elvine and Gregory Kreis divorce case that Kreis' wages were ordered to be garnished. I checked court documents in that case starting 3/4/24 to 3/18/24 and could not find verification. Not all documents for this case are in Humboldt e court because the case was transferred to Sonoma Superior Court. When I last checked, there was a 6/8/23 hearing listed as other compliance but it waa not heard and the matter off was off calendar. There was a 4/6/23 hearing to refinance vehicle which was heard.

In my previous coverage of ousted, disgraced, scandal ridden Kreis, I mentioned he sold the house he and Brenda Elvine, sold the boat and is living with family self help attorney Tanya Ellis on Harris Street. People in the community and courthouse know where Kreis and live. That same address is on campaign records and divorce court documents which are all public records.

Today, I checked the case and there is a document filed which is a First Amended Qualified Domestic  Relations Order regarding County of Humboldt Deferred Compensation Plan-Gregory J. Elvine- Kreis Account Holder.

Motions in limine and jury selection starts in HCSO Lt. Sam Williams trial

After trailing for assignment for two days, HCSO Lt. Sam Williams jury trial started today with motions in limine. Jurors are scheduled this afternoon.  There are 402 evidence scheduled. It was assigned to Judge Timothy Canning.

I will be covering this trial. Time estimate stated in court minutes earlier this week was 8 days to 2 weeks. On 3/18 funding was granted to Deputy Public Defender David Celli and is listed as confidential in e court records. I reported previously about an in camera hearing on 1/23/24 which was held in confidential setting and the transcript was ordered sealed by pending further order of the court. Deputy District Attorney Candace Myers is the prosecutor. DA Investigator Steve Dunn was in court with Ms. Myers which means he is lead investigator on the case.

March 29 last day for Humboldt Soup Company

Humboldt Soup Company was Chef's Christine Silver's first business I wrote about in 2014. Since then I have written about every eatery owned and operated by her. Customers can still support The Hood. Chef Christine's Facebook post from Sunday shows why she has such a loyal following.

Every business has been affected by the dismal Humboldt economy, the trickle down effect and the poor choices by those in charge in Humboldt currently and for decades. Their idea of prosperity is "me, me and only me" with crumbs thrown at their sycophants. COVID and other impacts just hastened most business and restaurant closures.
