Yesterday, trial setting was scheduled in Christopher Judevine's case. On 3/8 the Public Defender filed a motion for military diversion which was calendared for 3/25. Trial setting was continued to the same by stipulation.
California veterans and active-duty military personnel suffering from trauma or mental health issues can be eligible for military diversion. Military diversion allows eligible defendants to receive treatment instead of serving time in custody.
Judevine was arrested on 7/26 by Eureka Police Department for PC 148 (a) 1 resisting arrest and PC 243(b) battery on a peace or police officer. That battery was on hospital staff. According to the jail log Judevine was released to medical facility.
He was arrested again on 7/27 by Arcata Police Department for PC 148 (a) (1) resisting arrest, VC 20002 (a) hit and run and VC 23152 (f) driving under the influence of drugs.
3/25: Motion for military diversion granted by Judge Lawrence Killoran. 6 month review on 9/25/24.
