Umpqua Bank robber Jonathan Hening was charged with one count of PC 211 robbery.
Eureka Police Department Sgt. Cory Crnich testified at Hening's preliminary hearing last Friday. Judge Steven Steward held Hening to answer as charged. Arraignment on information is on 4/2.
Deputy District Attorney Emily Norgaard was the prosecutor for the preliminary hearing. Deputy Public Defender Wade Orbelian is Hening's attorney.
5/20: At trial confirmation, oral motion to continue by defense to file for mental health diversion. People object and do not waive written notice. Motion to continue on 5/23. Trial assignment on 5/24; jury trial on 5/28.
5/23: Motion to continue granted. Defense still saying they need time to file for mental health diversion. 5/24 & 5/28 dates vacated. Trial setting 7/3.
7/1: Since last post, the 7/1 date was added. 7/3 date was vacated. On 7/1, Judge Kaleb Cockrum denied motion for release for treatment without prejudice. Defense request to continue petition for mental health diversion + hearing on motion release prisoner for treatment + trial setting to 7/5 granted.
7/5: 2 year mental health diversion granted.
