Alleged molestor and former Fortuna High School coach Gary Landergen is no longer living in Humboldt County. He travels to Humboldt for his court hearings.
On 3/22 at trial assignment, Landergen's jury trial scheduled to start on 3/25 was trailing for assignment. Humboldt Superior Court is "impacted" according to Judge Joyce Hinrichs which is as usual for the several years now and jury trials, preliminary hearings and petitions keep getting continued multiple times.
Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm is scheduled to start a trial next Monday. That is the Nick Martinez alleged molestation case, which I have reported on and the case is older case so it gets precedence. Landergen is also out of custody. Conflict Counsel Supervising Attorney Meagan O'Connell consulted with Landergen about dates.
Trial confirmation was rescheduled for 5/17 and jury trial for 5/20. Landergen was authorized to appear by Zoom for trial confirmation since there is a possibility that dates maybe rescheduled again due to court backlog. Time estimate is 2 weeks.
