The jury started deliberating in HCSO Lt. Sam Williams case yesterday afternoon around 3.
Since my last post on opening statements and the testimony of Lt. Williams' wife and her lover on 3/25, former HCSO Deputy Jordan Walstrom testified on 3/26. HCSO Deputy Phillip Nasca was the People's last witness and Deputy District Attorney Candace Myers said "the People rest their case." Defense witness Rylie Williams, Lt. Williams daughter who was present and filmed the March 24 incident testified next, followed by defense expert Chris Coleman. Deputy Public Defender David Celli privately speaks with Lt. Sam Williams, he testifies.
Outside the presence of the jury, Ms. Myer makes an oral motion. Judge Timothy Canning previously ruled she could not question Lt. Williams about his affair and Ms. Myers asked again that she be allowed to do so for impeachment purposes. Judge Canning denied the motion. Request to play the video of Special Agent Ben Filippini's interview with Lt. Williams was granted. Brian Grossman was called as a rebuttal witness.
The court minutes say Sgt. Filippini but I need to check if he was promoted. Grossman worked for HCSO and Probation and last I heard was an investigator at the Public Defender's office.
