Trinidad Cortez Gomez arrested yesterday by HCSO on a warrant for a 2025 case. He is charged with two felony counts of PC 288 (a) lewd and lascivious act with a minor. The warrant was issued on 7/1 after a declaration was issued by the DA. The alleged molestation took place at Gomez's house in Mckinleyville and in his car.
Gomez was arraigned this afternoon. Conflict Counsel appointed, bail is $95,000, OR bail on 7/9; preliminary hearing scheduled for 7/17.
7/9/25: OR bail continued to 7/10 at defense request.
7/10/25: Judge Kaleb Cockrum changed Gomez's custody status to no bail.
7/17/25: Preliminary hearing continued to 8/21 by defense to review discovery, CAST interview and bodycam.
8/21/25: Preliminary hearing continued by defense to 9/17.
9/17/25: Preliminary hearing continued by defense to 9/30.
9/30/25: Held to answer as charged after preliminary hearing by Judge Kaleb Cockrum. Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm is the prosecutor for the case. Deputy Conflict Counsel Owen Tipps is Gomez's attorney. Arraignment on information is on 10/16/25.
10/16/25: Arraigned on information. Readinesd Conference on 12/1/25. Jury trial on 12/8.
12/1/25: Readiness Conference continued by defense to 12/3; no objection by People since lead attorney is in trial.
