"Camera off?", "Off record", "I burnt the motherfucker's place down."


The most damning testimony in this morning's preliminary for Anthony Domenico came during the testimony of
KIEM Reporter Monica Petruzzelli; the final witness.

Domenico's own actions and words ended up being his downfall. His off camera interview and audio were played in court. Domenico's attorney did not cross examine Ms. Petruzzelli.

Uber claimed Domenico struck him three times; after he contacted 911, he looked towards his home and " smoke begin to rise"


On August 18, HCSO Deputy Travis Rogers was dispatched to the Manila area for a "reported assault."

When he arrived at the homeless encampment, he saw a wooden structure, approximately 25 feet in length and 10 feet wide, completely engulfed in flames and smoke.

HCSO Deputy Bronson testified Domenico told her he had a gun. "He said he had two pickles."


On August 18, 2017, HCSO Deputy Chanler Bronson was dispatched to a call in Manila.
She first went to Pebble Lane and contacted the alleged victim, Thomas Uber.

"The alleged victim had blood on his head and was complaining about his structure on fire," said Deputy Bronson.

Court testimony in preliminary : Uber claimed Domenico called him faggot multiple times and threatened to burn his home down


Anthony Domenico's preliminary hearing just concluded. He was held to answer on both charges. Arraignment on information September 14 at 8:30 a.m

Two HCSO deputies and KIEM Reporter Monica Petruzzelli testified.

Calendar changes in Humboldt County Superior Court, effective August 28

As of August 28th cases set for October 15th and beyond will follow the below schedule.

Interventions will be heard at 1:30 p.m. in the Felony Court (Monday-Thursday)
Misdemeanor calendars will be heard at 9:15 a.m. in the Misdemeanor Court (Monday-Thursday)

Alleged armed robbery, kidnapping and ransom with one suspect's bail as high as $525,000


 Since the initial investigation began in July, the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office has continued to investigate this case, identifying two additional suspects.

Justice, again for HCSO Deputy Bang Cao; victory again for Ms. Kelly Neel

William Nelson lost his appeal. For the second time justice was served for HCSO Deputy Bang Cao, who Nelson shot at, while Deputy Cao was attempting to serve civil papers.

Bail increased to two million for David Kobak


Public Defender's office was appointed.Deputy Public Defender Casey Russo was present with David Kobak for arraignment. Intervention September 7. Preliminary hearing September 11 at 9:15.

David Kobak to be arraigned for the murder of Frederick William Loftus this afternoon


Arraignment for David Kobak is scheduled for 1:29 this afternoon in Courtroom 2.

Kobak is charged with one Count; murder of Frederick William Loftus. Count 1 has a special allegation that Kobak "personally and intentionally discharged a firearm" causing great bodily injury or death to Loftus.

Harry Nuneviller charged with burglary and grand theft of a firearm


Harry Nuneviller IV's arraignment is scheduled at 1:29 in Courtroom 2.

Nuneviller is charged with two felonies. Count 1 is Burglary. Count 2 is Grand theft of a firearm. Alleged victim in both cases is Jessica Ann Kennedy.

Kattie Rae Yocum denied release; preliminary for alleged arson of Blue Heron on September 5


Kattie Rae Yocum, aka Kattie Rae Byrd, was denied release on 8/25. She was arraigned on 8/23 on the charge of arson in the Blue Heron office fire.

No suspect identified yet in August 26 incident on Sonoma Street


Late night on August 26, EPD responded to a call about a gunshot victim on the 300 block of Sonoma street. The alleged victim had a gunshot wound in one hand. Alleged victim was taken to the hospital.

Former Deputy DA Ashley Daniel was arrested August 25 for an alleged DUI

Whether Ashley Daniel's resignation this morning was due to his arrest by CHP on August 25 for an alleged DUI, is something only Mr. Daniel can answer.

Inmate released from Humboldt County jail allegedly attacked a visitor



An inmate released allegedly attacked a visitor at the jail who was there to see someone else. The man, who was attacked is fine. Jail staff called EPD.

Conte Watson pleads no contest in two cases; plea agreement for 6 years, 8 months in state prison.



Conte Watson plead to two 2017 cases today. The agreement is for total of 6 years, 8 months in state prison.

He plead no contest in both cases. One case was dismissed as a part of the plea deal but Watson was told to stay away from the alleged victim in that case, Danielle Counts.

Deputy District Attorney Brent Kling is prosecuting the case. Deputy Public Defender Meagan O'Connell is representing Watson.

Technical difficulties in viewing exhibit gets ruling on 995 in Maxx Robison case continued again



Judge Christopher Wilson wanted to review the preliminary transcript before ruling on the defense's 995 motion in the Maxx Robison case. He could not open the exhibit so the ruling got continued to 1:30 tomorrow.

Mark Wheetley charged with three counts in 2017 alleged DUI case


Mark Wheetley's  was arraigned for his alleged DUI case from 2017 are scheduled in early resolution court, Courtroom 8, this morning.

Three counts. Not guilty pleas. He has retained Mr. Patrik Griego. Pre-trial on 11/21.

Jury trial for Nick Johnson for the alleged murder of David Ganfield confirmed for September 11


Two 2015 cases, one for alleged violation of parole; the other for trial confirmation the alleged murder of David Ganfield and a disposition and reset for one 2017 case for alleged possession of drugs in jail for Nick Johnson were scheduled for this morning.

Trial estimate, including jury selection, four weeks.

Ewa Misztal has a status of doctor's report hearing scheduled this morning in Courtroom 2. Continued until September 27 at 8:30 a.m. since Dr. Chamberlain, who is from the Bay area, will be here September 14-17.

The County of Humboldt is pleased to announce Lisa DeMatteo as its new director of Human Resources. DeMatteo was appointed to the position by the Board of Supervisors in July and began work last week.

On August 22, 2017, at about 9:55 p.m., officers with the Eureka Police Department responded to Highway 101 just north of the Slough Bridge for the report of a male throwing rocks at a broken down vehicle.  A female locked inside the vehicle reported that the male came out of the nearby greenbelt and was making threats and throwing rocks.
