"The Government's hands are filthy"

Will the Humboldt County District Attorney still use information from the federal raid in their case against Ray Christie after today's federal filings and the ruling on the federal motions scheduled for December 16. That date is before the December 27 evidentiary hearing on motion to supress and other motions in limine in Christie's Humboldt Superior Court case.

Still no information on NCJ lawsuit against the County because it had not even been served

On November 22, a status conference to determine record was scheduled in a lawsuit filed by North Coast Journal vs County of Humboldt. I reported on this on October 1.

Coleman and Alma Ahumadamendoza have been charged in a new case with charges of fraud, conspiracy and grand theft

If there isn't a motion for new trial, then convicted murderer Demetrius Coleman will be sentenced on December 14.

Coleman and Alma Ahumadamendoza have been charged in a new case with charges of fraud, conspiracy and grand theft. Charges are slightly different for each of them.

He gets a great plea deal, then fails to appear for sentencing

Alleged molestor Patrick Marshall got a great plea deal. He delayed the plea, finally resolved his case and then today, he failed to appear for sentencing. A bench warrant was issued for $45,000 and will be held until 12/15/21.

"I am not impugning anyone's character; I am stating facts"

Ray Christie had a hearing scheduled this morning. It was on two defense motions noticed for this date.

"The incident at City Hall was committed by an individual who has committed similar crimes at City owned property."

I was going to include Eureka City Manager Miles Slattery's response in yesterday's post about the burglary at Eureka City Hall as I did with EPD Crime Analyst Brittany Powell's response.

On Nov. 28, 2021, at about 11:51 a.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the area of the North Jetty for the report of a possible domestic violence situation.

Didn't I tell you EPD Captain Brian Stephens would be interim chief

The City just issued this press release. See related posts linked below. I mentioned EPD Captain Brian Stephens being interim chief months ago and was the first to report about Todd Jarvis being considered a possibility for Eureka Police Chief on November 11. In a text to me on November 12, retiring Chief Steve Watson claimed he didnt know the identity until after the fact and did not know Jarvis' name until after my November 11 post.

City of Eureka can say acting vs interim all they want. As I pointed out in previous posts, Captain Stephens has been the face of EPD for the past several months.

On Nov. 28, 2021, at about 8:30 p.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies on patrol near Loleta conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for expired registration.

Yes,Shane, we do need new leadership in this county and the Board of Supervisors. What we don't need is a candidate running on a single issue and someone part of the local entrenched system

In October 2021,I reported that the Fifth District Supervisor Race might have more than one challenger to the incumbent Steve Madrone. I did not mention that the challenger was a HCSO deputy in that post.

Sgt. Greg Allen is now Lt. Greg Allen. There was a celebration early November. I didn't see an official announcement but you can congratulate him in person.

Nordstrom, Apple now Home Depot

The County spends a ton of money wasting time fighting lawsuits and they do not win

HumCPR litigation has been ongoing and civil lawsuits have a lot of details and go on and on. The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors spend money that is not coming from their personal pockets like money. Dollars that could be put to better use.

Did Deputy DA Steward lie to or mislead Judge Wilson?

On November 30, there is a hearing scheduled on motions in Ray Christie's Humboldt Superior Court criminal case. I am very curious to see what move the District Attorney's office will make next.

Christie's cell phone which was seized during the federal raid was returned to him after the federal prosecutor read the defense motion to suppress. That motion was a separate filing in federal court.

Remember, after the federal raid, HCSO PIO Samantha Karges answered my questions. The only one not to answer my questions since then has been Humboldt County District Attorney Maggie Fleming and Deputy District Attorney Steven Steward.

Carter House up for sale comes as no surprise

"Hotel Carter and Wine Cellar, a member of Select Registry® and Unique Inns, Extraordinary Country Inns, Bed & Breakfasts, and Boutique Hotels in the North American West, is a 23-room hotel in Eureka, California, on the active Redwoods Coast. This Eureka California boutique hotel for sale is 5 hours from San Francisco or Sacramento and 7 hours from Portland."
Reason for selling is listed as "focusing on other ventures."

They closed the restaurant. Had no plans to reopen it. Carter House has gone through at least three managers in the last two years. The managers are not the problem. High turnover usually reflects poor decisions by the owners and Carter House isn't the only one in Humboldt with that problem. This sale comes as no surprise.

The City of Eureka's plan to use the nearby parking lot for one of the low income housing projects they rammed  through and all the tweakers and bums around the area would turn off any buyer.

10 detained; 9 arrested in undercover retail theft operation

**The photo from EPD depicts officers speaking to a man who had just walked out of a store without paying for the container and contents inside.  All items were returned to the store in new condition.**

In response to rising retail theft reports, The Eureka Police Department (EPD) has coordinated undercover operations with the assistance of EPD patrol officers, the Community Safety and Engagement Team (CSET), the Problem Oriented Policing team (POP), non-sworn personnel, and an Agent from Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC).

No fine has been imposed and State Controller is reviewing information on concerns about Humboldt County

The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors made it seem the sky is falling. Many of you watched the special meeting on Monday regarding the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors and the vote on Humboldt Auditor-Controller Karen Paz Dominguez. An entire day was wasted.

I contacted the State Controller's Press Secretary yesterday regarding certain references made this during this special meeting.

The BOS should not throw stones when they live in glass houses

I am not a fan of Humboldt County Auditor Controller Karen Paz Dominguez. I am just pointing out the flaws of the Board of Supervisors and their idiocy.

Guess who is running for Judge Wilson's seat?

Today must be celebrate my favorite attorneys' day.

Sorry Laurence, but Ben is a lot higher on my top 10 local list. I have watched him in action many times and do know him better.

LSNC local office honors Laurence Ross as pro bono attorney of the year

I have known Mr. Laurence Ross for over 12 years. This is well deserved honor. He is a very kind and modest man. Clients I referred to me have always been happy and made a point to thank me.

Caleb Patrick King's previous restraining order shouldn't have been dropped

There is still no press release from Fortuna Police Department. I already have his booking photo. My previous post has more information on him. Since FPD has not released any information, difficult to tell if the victim from the November 2021 arrest is the same as the one with the previous temporary restraining order.

The compassionate side of EPD you don't see in headlines and agenda based reporting

Three EPD cars and officers. The woman is not detained or arrested, they are trying to help her and talking with her.
