Suspect refused to pay for half eaten donut, brandished a firearm and demanded cash

The grocery store is out one donut. Suspect got no cash  and fled the store. Was the firearm even real? Store with that address matches Safeway's location.

HCSO Press Release:

On Nov. 14, 2021, at about 6:42 a.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a grocery store on the 2500 block of Harris Street, in the county’s jurisdiction of Eureka, for the report of an attempted robbery.

According to a store clerk, an unknown male entered a checkout line with a half-eaten donut taken from the store. The male refused to pay for the donut, brandished a firearm at the store clerk and demanded cash from the register. The store clerk denied the suspect’s request and the suspect fled the store.

The suspect is described as a white male adult, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, a navy hat, black gloves and jeans.

This case is still under investigation.
