Today must be celebrate my favorite attorneys' day.

Sorry Laurence, but Ben is a lot higher on my top 10 local list. I have watched him in action many times and do know him better.
I covered all three trials for the first David Anderson human trafficking case (not covered by other media). That was the first human trafficking case in Humboldt County. That is only one high profile defendant Mr. McLaughlin represented. There was Kayla Brown, another first. Sexual abuse case with a female minor victim and female defendant.
Most people will remember Mr. McLaughlin for the Maggie Wortman case. She was sentenced to six years in state prison for voluntary manslaughter. This was California's first case where a woman was sentenced for passing a lethal dose of methamphetamine to her child through breast milk while nursing.
Former Deputy District Attorney, private attorney and currently Deputy Public Defender Ben McLaughlin just told me, "Wanted to let you know I decided to run for Judge." This would be for Judge Christopher Wilson's seat in 2022. Judge Wilson is supposed to retire.
