Three failures to appear yet released on OR by jail; today makes 4 no shows for indecent exposure suspect

Andrew William O'Donnell was arrested by Eureka Police Department on a bench warrant on August 2019 for a 2022 case and booked on two counts of PC 314 (1) indecent exposure a warrant in that case. The PC 647 (f) public intoxication was a new arrest. He was released on O.R.

Kevin Willoughby arrested by Humboldt County Coroner?

 



Kevin Dewayne Willoughby was arrested by the Humboldt County Coroner yesterday for PC 148 (a) 1 resisting arrest and PC243 (d) aggravated battery causing serious bodily injury.

I contacted HCSO about the coroner being arresting agency. The jail log was in error. Staff has corrected the mistake. Willoughby was arrested by HCSO.

EPD gets traffic moving again on 4th street


Eureka Police Department was called for this truck on 4th street holding up traffic. The truck was already there 20 minutes ago with people honking.

EPD Sgt. Eddie Wilson and Officer Heinrich Soltow are asking the man if he has a tow. They just helped push him out and across the street in front of Scrapper's Edge.

Convicted sex offender puts on a show in court to deflect from his own repeated actions that harm the community

 


Convicted sex offender Robert Munts put on quite the show in court yesterday at his arraignment. In addition to his two August 2022 cases, Munts act was after he learned that he was being arraigned on a third 2022 case. He was also arraigned on information for his August 26 arrest which is now scheduled for jury trial.

This is the guy who threatened Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees and got a year probation for that misdemeanor. He recently threatened a St. Bernard's employee and was acting erratically at Alice Birney School.

Two prescribed burns planned, one in Bridgeville and one in Ettersburg

 


CALFire just sent out a press release on two prescribed burns.

One prescribed burn is planned for tomorrow, September 30th.  This will involve approximately 80 acres of ranch land north of Bridgeville. 

Another burn is planned on Saturday, October 1st, 2022.  Saturday’s prescribed fire is expected to burn 47 acres of grass and brush in the Ettersburg area of Southern Humboldt County.

Corbett Craig Petersen was arrested by CHP for his third DUI. Two DUIS in 2022 and one in 2021.

He was booked yesterday for VC14601.2(a), VC 23152 (a) DUI  and VC 23152 (b) blood alcohol level 0.08 percent or more.

Darrel Tatro charged with showing porn to minor and two other sex crimes




Darrel Dwayne Tatro was arrested by DA investigator Ryan Hill on September 24 for PC 288.2 (a) (2) sending harmful or obscene material to a minor with the intent to seduce the minor, PC 288.4 (a) (1) arrange a meeting with a minor under 18 for lewd purposes or to engage in sexual activity, PC 664/288 (a) attempted lewd acts with a minor and PC 288.3 (a) contacting a minor with intent to commit certain sex crimes.

The DA has charged him with three felonies. Count 1 PC 288 (a) (2) distributing or showing porn to a minor; Count 2 is PC 288.3 (a) contact with minor for sexual offense and PC 288.4 (b) meeting minor for lewd purposes.

Another Humboldt probationer arrested for fentanyl and meth in a hotel room

On September 28th, 2022, Humboldt County Drug Task Force (HCDTF) Agents made a traffic stop on Jonathan King (46 old from Eureka) in the area of Central St. and Harris Ave. in Eureka. King was on multiple counts of probation with a search clause for previous drug arrests.

On September 27th, 2022, the Humboldt County Drug Task Force (HCDTF), with the assistance of the Rio Dell Police Department (RDPD), served a search warrant on a residence in the 100 block of Douglas St. in Rio Dell. This search warrant was the result of multiple neighborhood complaints about drug activity associated with the residence. 

County to LOCO: no records and fees for you!

Finally a date was set  Lost Coast Outpost vs County of Humboldt writ of mandate case. A CMC is scheduled for October 7. LOCO lawsuit alleges HCSO "wrongfully withholding" records.

Stephanie Sanchez resolved her case on 9/12 with a conditional guilty plea to one count of PC 245 (a) (4) assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury. The rest of the charges were dismissed by the People.

The preliminary hearing for tomorrow was vacated.  Sentencing is on 10/10.

On September 16, I reported Hillary Colleen Deskins was arrested by Arcata Police Department for PC 487(a), grand theft. I had requested more information on that day from the Sgt on duty. After not hearing for 11 days, I followed up with APD Chief Brian Ahearn last night and he sent me this additional information this morning.

Rotten egg smell permeates Courthouse

Was really strong about 10 minutes ago; is less now. Will see what I can find out. Court staff is on it investigating on roof. Don't know if County workers are on it but I heard someone say, "I will call County."

There is work going on the roof. One court bailiff and HCSO deputy just asked everyone to evacuate the building on second floor. Judges were taken to the basement.

First District Supervisor Rex Bohn who was in the lobby just said I dont know what is going on and guffawed. Then he walked to BOS chambers.

Now it smells like rotten fish. And it is worse outside.

Out of 1,000 jurors, only 15 were available for alleged molestor's case

 


Yesterday, the jury trial for alleged molestor Dean Brown started with Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm and Deputy Conflict Counsel R.J. Leohner meeting with Judge Kaleb Cockrum to go over motions in limine.

Brown was in court in a wheelchair. "This is a life top case with the special allegations," Judge Cockrum stated yesterday. Brown faces life without the possibility of parole."

The second 4th of July suspect, Joseph Boxell, has his preliminary hearing scheduled today. It is the 60th day because he did not waive time. 

Deputy Conflict Counsel R.J. Leohner is Boxell's attorney. He told Judge John Feeney that the preliminary hearingcould take up to two hours because there is "media" to go over.

The blonde was in court. I think Olivas was in court; couldn't tell with the mask on. Olivas resolved his case with one year on probation.

BOS should cut their losses with Rohrs, terminate the lease and find a new owner

 


The BOS should cut their losses with Christopher Rohrs, terminate his lease and find a new owner. Tables and chairs cleared out of the Smokestack Cafe have been sitting outside on the third floor of the Courthouse for over a week.

BOS won't do what is fiscally prudent. They will be lazy, listen to clueless staff and prolong yet another bad decision. 

Why is EPD and New Directions doing the job of lazy property owners?

These three photos are around 11 a.m . There will probably be atleast one more clean up. By the time I got there EPD  Sgt. Leonard LaFrance and EPD Brian Ross were wrapping things up with the maintainenance guy from Humboldt County Office of Education. The fence needs to be fixed.

I did not go to the 6th and West Avenue at 9.a.m. Had HCOE administration, County and City code enforcement bothered to show their cowardly faces and incompetent faces, I would have.

The encampment would not be there for a multitude of reasons; the number one being lazy property owners. Why wasn't this area, cleaned, monitored and the brush cleared by HCOE for years before anyone set up a camp?

Whenever I get the opportunity to give a shout out to the hardworking men and women at Teen Challenge, I take a photo or two. This morning, these men are at the 1587 Myrtle Avenue parking lot.

McCloskey sends notice to "Team Humboldt" to sue them for wrongful arrest, defamation, retaliation and police misconduct

 


On the agenda for the September 27 meeting is a January 18, 2022 letter from Allen McCloskey which is a notice of intent to pursuse civil litigation againsy HCSO and DHHS.

In December 30, 2021, I reported on a statement that Allen McCloskey sent me a statement which was addressed to Humboldt County Sheriff William Honsal. There were several parties cced including the California Attorney General, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Trinidad Rancheria, Health and Human Services and McCloskey's counsel.

In October 2021, I reported about McCloskey's arrest by HCSO on N. Westhaven for  PC 496(A) receiving stolen property, PC 30305 (a) possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, PC29800(A) felon in possession of a firearm and PC496D(A).

I checked for several weeks and months after the arrest and McCloskey was never charged by the DA.

On Sept. 22, 2022, at about 1:41 p.m., an adult female contacted the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center to report a domestic violence incident that had occurred at a residence on the 2300 block of Plunkett Road in Bayside.

Alleged molestor enters plea and avoids jury trial

 


Alleged molestor Bryan Sian had a hearing scheduled for arraignment on information this morning. Sian resolved his case for a stipulated term of 23 years and waived his apellate rights. Sentencing is on October 18.

Corey Brimm arrested on a Ramey warrant for robbery and assault

 




Corey Allan Brim was arrested on a Ramey warrant and booked into the jail yesterday for PC 245 (a) (2) assault with a firearm, PC 417 (a)(1) brandishing a weapon or firearm and PC 211 robbery.

HCSO PIO Samantha Karges said, "Mr. Brim was transferred from Lake County Jail on his Humboldt County charges."

Corbett Petersen finally remanded!

Today, Corbett Petersen was finally remanded into custody. Thank you Judge Neel.

Corbett's arrogance and disregarding the law finally had consequences. So far, he is still in custody unless he posts the $10,000 bail.

Handmade, fresh candy made daily at this local store for 80 years

 


Kevin and Debbie took over as new owners of Partrick's Candy 21 years ago. The store has been in business since 1941.  Customers have been going to 537 F street for over 80 years for handmade, fresh candy which is made daily.
