Why is EPD and New Directions doing the job of lazy property owners?

These three photos are around 11 a.m . There will probably be atleast one more clean up. By the time I got there EPD  Sgt. Leonard LaFrance and EPD Brian Ross were wrapping things up with the maintainenance guy from Humboldt County Office of Education. The fence needs to be fixed.

I did not go to the 6th and West Avenue at 9.a.m. Had HCOE administration, County and City code enforcement bothered to show their cowardly faces and incompetent faces, I would have.

The encampment would not be there for a multitude of reasons; the number one being lazy property owners. Why wasn't this area, cleaned, monitored and the brush cleared by HCOE for years before anyone set up a camp? 

HCOE has a lot of property. They just moved to offices near 5th and F in Eureka in a building owned by Ron Pillegi. Why are they using, for free, EPD resources and New Directions labor? If they paid EPD or New Directions, they can contact me with the receipts.

Not everyone in that encampment is a drug addict but when you are homeless, you don't get to pick your neighbors. 

The people were offered shelter was first mentioned in an unverified statement not made by EPD or DHHS but someone else on Facebook. Even if services are offered, there is way too much demand and the supply is limited and dwindling. 

Using the resources and referring everyone to the same organizations does not house people. It is an excuse and convenience for the NIMBY folk; for the greedy Humboldt property owners who take DHHS and government money to rent to sex offenders and drug addicts instead of renting to people struggling and working who need affordable living situations; for government agencies who use more funds for bureaucracy instead of housing people and for the mega corporate churches and fake "Christians" who do not practice the Beatitudes or any other scripture inconvenient to their wanton greed and lust for power. Many of these "Christians" sit around coffee shops and restaurants demeaning those who don't worship at the altar of fake Gods and live by their Pharisee rules. The grift to tithe and make people rich who have no morals or faith.

Humboldt County rents have always been disproportionate. Greedy property owners and landlords who prey on growers, travel nurses, outsiders; anyone they can make a buck off and play their pretend rich life to hang out with the Ingomar crowd. You didn't "earn" your wealth; you "work the system. 

The Humboldt cabal,  the Humboldt connected and the fake "environmentalists" who make a living off constantly suing and over the top California regulations have created this insurmountable problem.  This is why homelessness never gets solved. 

I could say more and have but the people who can fix it don't care. Unless you have spent years in Humboldt trying to get housing and dealing with the overwhelmed system and bureaucracy with limited resources; zip it. Single men have been sold out by both parties; especially the one that cries "family values." Most of the housing in Humboldt discriminates openly against male renters. You want people to marry, have families and kids then provide jobs where people do more than survive until the next paycheck in a job that is not guaranteed because you need to bale out your incompetent, lazy family member or friend who has never had to work for any position.

There are four to five years or more waiting lists for Danco, the Housing Authority and other low income or affordable places on every resource list. Funds have run out for Salvation Army. The Arcata based property management firm that operates RCAA properties won't even call RCAA staff back. The Ukiah staff will but they are not the ones who process the applications.

Craigslist and Facebook groups are full of scam artists. People won't rent certain places anymore because they are not up to code but they had no problem living off the rent from the same place  just a year or two ago. Houses and apartments sit empty while people need shelter. There are way too many Airbnbs in Humboldt and how many are regulated? Your right to rent your property; then pay a tax like hotels do for every stay. 

Providence  just put a dent in the supply of local housing. The people living at the Humboldt Inn moved out and were relocated by Danco so Providence could redo the place trashed by people housed there with COVID 19 housing funds and profit more from the same property. Besides Danco and the same Humboldt companies and contractors, who is benefitting from yet property subsidized by government getting fixed up?

The same ads on Humboldt Craigslist every month or two from people taking advantage of the desperation to get housed and this does not send a red flag?

What is the City of Eureka, Humboldt County Board of Supervisors, Mike McGuire, Jim Wood and Jared Huffman doing besides sending out meaningless press releases about issues that have nothing to do with basics of life like food and shelter. None of these yahoos could get any of the extra state housing funds for Humboldt housing because most of it always goes to Los Angeles and San Francisco. Gavin Newsom may throw some pity funds at Humboldt before the next election. Virginia Bass and Rex Bohn's state connections have done nothing for anyone outside their family and funders circle. Humboldt isn't the big cheese in California and no one gives a fig about Bass and Bohn.

Maybe instead of acting as auctioneers and posing for photo ops, these elected officials could work for all their constituents and earn their salary. The amount of money Humboldt County Board of Supervisors has wasted on unnecessary litigation could have paid rents for thousands. Poor choices by those in power and with the local money have kept Humboldt from growing and providing opportunities to anyone other than the good ole boys and their sycophants. Own your failed legacy which is abandoned storefronts and drug addicts on every corner.

Not a single local lawyer or Judge will take on the bad local property management companies, greedy developers and slumlords who own most of the properties. 

Homelessness is a crisis created by greed, politicians, weak and selfish people and was worsened by COVID lockdowns. Both parties are useless and owned by oligarchs. 

Where do you think the people ousted today will go now? Where did those from Devil's playground go? The people from 6th and West will most likely go to other areas of Myrtle Avenue depicted in the the photos below which is land owned by Alder Bay and other property owners who have failed to clean up and maintain the area for years other than recently throwing up a rickety fence. Don't attack EPD on Facebook when your property looks like shit. There are property owners who maintain their properties. There are many who don't. The ones that don't should be fined. Don't pass off their laziness to other taxpayers.

Many property owners walk around Humboldt acting like they are flush with cash, living the life and teaching their spoilt progeny and family members the "Humboldt way of doing business." Many of these people have family members who are drug addicted and have been arrested for other crimes. 

Why are taxpayers, volunteers and police doing the dirty work you as a property owner should be responsible for? Instead of your daily lattes and scarfing down overpriced entrees everyday, why don't you use some of that money, pay your way and clean your property before you splurge?

You can drink those lattes and pretend you are a success when you don't live off government subsidies and taxpayer money.

The next time anyone whines about EPD response, look in the mirror about what you are doing to pay your fair share, discourage criminal activity and direct your anger at the appropriate people and not EPD officers in an understaffed department cleaning your mess. The men and women of EPD signed up to protect and serve the public. It is disrespectful to have them clean up and do the dirty work for lazy property owners. 

If I had directed the Star Trek The Next Generation episode, Q would only put some of the human race on trial against crimes against humanity.  The key defendants would all be from Humboldt.
