Heather Toland was charged with domestic violence and vandalism in two separate cases from two arrests in 2022.

This case is just one example of the white, gender and local privilege in the Humboldt Superior Court system. I will be posting on the resolution in Corbett Petersen's case later today when I have time.

On 9/22, the day her preliminary hearing was scheduled, Toland entered a plea and was sentenced to probation for one year and has to enroll in anger management courses.

If this was a man, especially black, brown, Native and without the "right local connections" and money to hire the "right local, private defense attorney", would he have received the same resolution? 

I have seen aggressive, drunk Toland at local watering holes and if she wants me to name the specific place and the local, well connected family  she was badmouthing, I will be glad to remind her. They already know what she said since she was loud, drunk and yelling it in a public place. Disparaging people who gave her a good job and were decent to her. This kind of two faced behavior is not uncommon in gossipy, backstabbing Humboldt.

1/30:  Entry of restitution order continued stipulation to 3/15.

3/15: Case was oon for entry of restitution order. Deputy District Attorney Luke Bernthal said People are trying to reach victim and requested matter set be hearing.  Judge Steven Steward granted the request. Restitution hearing scheduled for 4/20. Ms. Heidi Holmquist Wells is Toland's attorney.

4/20:

5/31: Restitution ordered.

10/30: Defense filed a petition PC 1203.4 petition which was granted. Court minutes only indicate dismissal. An order with more details was not filed when I checked the case so it is unclear whether the request includes expungement.
