Today, Frank and Susan Clemenza celebrate 41 years in business. They took over Boyd Sewing & Vacuum from the original owner, Mike Boyd, in 1952.
When is the last time you visited this Humboldt locally owned, mom and pop business that has been around for 70 years? The impact of online and COVID related closures have impacted many local businesses.
Online maybe convenient. It does not always work out. You make think it is cheaper. It is not.
What Frank and Susan offer is a smile and that personal touch when you walk through the door.
They give each customer the same respect and value every purchase, small or big. I speak from personal experience. I wasted hours at Target and other places for something Boyd had. Frank took the time to make sure he gave me the right product. I should have followed my first instinct to call Boyd's.
I am not the only one who knows the value of shopping local and from a business that prides itself on customer service and quality.
Someone who bought a vaccuum from Boyd couldn't get it serviced in LA. She called Frank. Problem resolved; satisfied customer. A customer from San Francisco told Frank and Susan they "have the best best selection of threads."
Frank said he often has parts that cannot be found online. He offers a 10 year warranty on certain vacuums.
"We have been here for 50 years. Humboldt is our home and each customer is like family."
