Two Covelo residents convicted of environmental violations; unlawful cultivation of marijuana

Defendant Eugene Allon Lincoln, age 63, of Covelo, was sentenced on Tuesday of this week to 180 days in the county jail as just one of a series of conditions imposed pursuant to a 60-month grant of supervised probation.

Message regarding my PRA request just popped up in my inbox (5:38 p.m.) There are 4 documents. I have posted three. The fourth is in an Excel format and I have to go through it and will not be posting it tonight.

These allegations are in addition to his criminal case and charges of sexual abuse and inappropriate touching of six minor male victims.

Another continuance requested by defense to set date for Mark Dare's preliminary hearing



Setting for Mark Dare's jury trial was scheduled was continued to May 30. It was continued again at defense's request to July 16.

Dare is charged with molesting his two step-daughters.

HCSO investigation of Patrick McTigue started in November 2017


A Humboldt County Planning and Building inspector was arrested Tuesday following an ongoing bribery investigation dating back to last year.

Patrick William McTigue was arrested by HCSO yesterday afternoon on a Ramey warrant,booked at 2:15 p.m. and released on bail bond at 6:46 p.m. He is charged with a violation of PC641.3 (a), commercial bribery.

Bail was $75,000.

I have written various posts on a Patrick McTigue, who used to work at the Building and Planning Department for the County of Humboldt. His middle initial is William. He was on a leave of abscence. My initial post was about alleged kickbacks from growers trying to go through the permit process.

Victim of logging accident yesterday was Philip Johnson

Last night, the victim's wife Sandra Johnson shared that her husband Philip Johnson passed away. There is also a facebook post which is very personal. Friends and many in the community know this information already.

It was confirmed by HCSO PIO Samantha Karges:

"On May 28 at about 5:30 p.m. a deputy coroner with the Humboldt County Coroner’s Office was dispatched to a property on Redwood Ave., outside of the city limits of Rio Dell, for a death investigation. Upon arrival, the deputy coroner learned that 68-year-old Philip Lee Johnson of Rio Dell was bucking redwood logs on his property when a log came loose and crushed him. He was declared deceased on the scene."

Stockton businessman gets 90 days house arrest and probation for statutory rape of a child

79 year old Stockton businessman Lyle Burgess, was sentenced last week to 90 days of house arrest and five years of informal probation after pleading no contest to statutory rape of a child. He does not have to register as a sex offender.

"WYFF News 4 anchor Mike McCormick and WYFF News 4 photojournalist Aaron Smeltzer died Monday when a tree fell on their SUV.

The accident happened on Highway 176 in Polk County while they were covering the rain impact in that area.

Rape, two convictions for failure to register as a sex offender, multiple warrants, now arrested again


According to the News Tribune, Christopher Fitzpatrick, 39, of Federal Way was arrested by Bonney Lake police and U.S. Marshalls and was booked into Pierce County Jail about 8:30 p.m. on Saturday night. Charges are suspicion of promoting commercial prostitution, third-degree child rape and first-degree kidnapping with sexual motivation.

Fitzpatrick was believed to be traveling with a missing teenager Saturday night in Lakewood. She was not with Fitzpatrick and has not been located yet.

When he was arrested at a Fife motel, Fitzpatrick was having sex with a 16-year-old girl tied to the bedposts.

MJ's Courthouse Cafe closes June 1, re-opens June 11 as Smokestack Cafe


After six years, owner Jeannie Fleek last day at MJ's Courthouse Cafe is June 1st. The cafe will be closed from the week of June 4-8.

New owner Chris takes over officially on June 6. Smokestack Café will  re-open on June 11. Jeannie will still be around for a while helping out with the transition.

Firefighters rescue a Riverside woman whose car plunged 700 feet off Highway 18

Firefighters rescued a 26-year-old Riverside woman whose car plunged 700 feet off Highway 18 near Crestline. According  to
California Highway Patrol Officer Juan Quintero, the woman appeared to have made an intentional left turn off the road.

Dr. Ramirez's evaluation was scheduled for Wesley Starritt on May 23. The attorneys received copies of the report. Hearing was continued to May 24 by stipulation. Starritt was found not competent to stand trial.

John Luther Leslie arrested and booked on kidnapping, false imprisonment, domestic violence and several other charges



On May 23, 2018, at about 6 p.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call from a distressed female stating she was being held against her will. The line was disconnected and dispatchers’ attempts to reconnect with the female were unsuccessful.
