Child molestor Nicolas Blake to serve 16 years in state prison

Defendant Nicholas Blake, age 40, of Willits, was sentenced this morning to serve 16 years in state prison.

Defendant Blake had previously plead guilty to two separate felony counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14 years. The one count involved a female who was sexually abused by the defendant between and during the ages of 11 and 13. The second count involved the first victim's sister who was also sexually abused by the defendant between and during the ages of 12 and 13.

The mother of the survivors addressed the the sentencing judge this morning and provided an impact statement. One of the survivors also prepared a thoughtful impact statement but had the District Attorney read it for her in open court.

Because these crimes are characterized as violent in the Penal Code, the credits the defendant will be eligible to earn while in state prison are limited to no more than 15%. Upon release, the defendant will be required to register with law enforcement for the rest of his life as a sex offender.

The attorney who has been handling the prosecution of this defendant is DA Eyster. The investigating law enforcement agencies were the Willits Police Department and the District Attorney's own investigators.

The sentencing judge this morning was Mendocino County Superior Court Judge Cindee Mayfield.
