Another lucky break for meth user and repeat offender Trampus Danhauer

On the day of his probation revocation hearing, repeat offender Trampus Danhauer resolved his case with a plea. Danhauer admitted failure to report and use of meth. He has to complete a 30 day residential program.

Another lucky break for Danhauer. His domestic violence was dismissed because the alleged victim would not cooperate with the prosecution.

On June 30, 2022, at about 1:45 p.m., an officer with the Eureka Police Department was conducting a traffic stop near Hodgson and Q Streets when the male passenger exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

County releases separation agreement and details about KPD's departure

(Americanbar.org)

The County admits it wants a tolling agreement to avoid litigation. Thought they had nothing to hide and it was all Karen's fault? 🤔

You may have read this in my earlier post but those who have not read that post,  Ms. Paz Dominguez's response, "They left out the part where I did not give up my right to sue them."

Karen Paz Dominguez signed her agreement, her resignation is effective tomorrow

Humboldt Auditor Controller Karen Paz Dominguez just confirmed this news to me.

"I signed the settlement agreement today, " said Ms. Paz Dominguez." My resignation is effective as of tomorrow."

The County lawyer reached out to her " almost immediately after election day. " Ms. Paz Dominguez will be staying in Humboldt.

I  also asked Ms. Paz Dominguez the following questions since there were no restrictions to what she could say or she would not have signed the agreement.

My questions:

3. If you are comfortable, what was the amount of the settlement since you are leaving early?

4. Is the County dropping the cross complaint against you?

5. Do you have to wait to comment on the State Auditor Report?

6. Who is your counsel?

7.  Will you be suing Humboldt County?

8. Does this agreement allow you to share evidence  you could not before?

Based on the location, the 1900 block fire was probably at or near the former Sizzler

Based on the location, this fire on the 1900 block is near the former Sizzler location. Both that block and the next one over where Burger King is located have transients. The photos above from Sizzler and near Burger King, McDonalds anf the former tatoo place don't have anyone around there today.

The City of Eureka has been notified of issues so this could have been prevented. This is what the Eureka City Council, the administration and Code Enforcement should be taking care of; not EPD or Humboldt Bay Fire. How much did this cost taxpayers?

A loss to Humboldt with April Van Dyke moving and leaving Conflict Counsel

(Avvo)

Today at trial confirmation for  Pamela Millsap, found out that Deputy Conflict Counsel April Van Dyke is moving.

This is a loss to Conflict Counsel but more so for Humboldt County. I wish Ms. Van Dyke the best.

County wanting KPD gone is no surprise, why the silence on LOCO's new chums Rex and Glenn Franco Simmons?

(Simmons)

(Humboldt Sheriff Billy Honsal, Bill Cardoza, Rex Bohn and Pete Ciarabellini)

Humboldt County wanting a settlement and wanting Karen Paz Dominguez gone is not a surprise.

Despite getting Cheryl Dillingham in as Auditor Controller, Rex Bohn and Michelle Bushnell seem just as cranky. I could barely watch two minutes of the meeting with Rex and John Ford fawning all over each other.

The BOS has money to give John Ford a 15% raise but the County wants a hiring freeze because. BOS does not care if County workers are overworked, DHHS Call Center is impossible to get through for people who are barely hanging in, roads and potholes need to be fixed because they can continue to squeeze taxpayers and flush money down the toilet.

Once again, First District Supervisor Rex Bohn, Lost Coast Outpost's chum in the last few months is fine announcing that Karen Paz Dominguez could go and predicting when to LOCO. Glenn Franco Simmons who ran the Arkley owned former Eureka Reporter is  so obsequious towards Ryan Burns, it is nauseating. Hard to imagine that one point Simmons was a KINS supporter.

Humboldt in a nutshell is the best comment regarding John Ford's resignation, coming back and getting a raise

Humboldt in a nutshell is the best comment regarding John Ford's resignation, coming back and getting a raise. Comments are from Lost Coast Outpost Facebook page.

Were shots fired on Jackson Ranch Road and who responded?

At 3:27 p.m. yesterday, there was this unconfirmed scanner information about a call about shots heard on 255/Jackson Ranch Road and unconfirmed information that HCSO responded.

HCSO PIO Samantha Karges told me,"We received a call regarding possible promiscuous shooting near a creek in the area of State Highway 255 and Jackson Ranch Road, associated with a 1990’s model red mustang. The mustang and occupants were gone upon deputy arrival."

Kalin's lawyer wants to "shed further light on the corruption" that is shielding Elvine-Kreis from culpability

(Kalin)

(Elvine-Kreis)

I just did a post on June 22 about former Deputy Public Defender Rory Kalin's lawsuit against Humboldt Superior Court Judge Gregory Elvine-Kreis, former Public Defender Marek Reavis and current Public Defender Luke Brownfield.

In addition to corruption and gamemanship regarding discovery, the filing from Kalin's lawyer states Elvine-Kreis refused to speak with the investigative deputy and asserts that other parties spoke with law enforcement after this denial and they met to get their stories straight.

Two minor victims, one alleges when she tried to remove defendant's hand under her shirt, he"held on"

There are two alleged minor victims for the 9 felony counts filed against alleged molestor Sergio Reynoso-Lozano. He was arraigned today. Reynoso-Lozano was held to answer on all nine counts after the preliminary hearing on June 13.

"We hadn't received an offer in two years, not even a bad one, until today, when Trent offered me a felony and Sarah a dismissal.  So, even though am the least culpable person, they expect me to bend over and take a felony for everyone else."

Deputy District Attorneys Trent Timm and Ian Harris have taken over the Michael Acosta and Sarah Caroll case from Deputy DA Jane Mackie.

Depending on when the trial actually proceeds, Mr. Harris who is taking over Humboldt County Drug Task Force cases will be the prosecutor for the trial.

I had not seen Mackie for a while and wondered if she was still employed with the Humboldt County DA's office. Since that came up while covering today's hearing, I  contacted DA Maggie Fleming and she confirmed Mackie resigned on May 31.

Trial dates confirmed or last minute continuance and delay for Acosta case?

(Carroll)

(Acosta)

Trial confirmation for Michael Acosta and Sarah Carroll is scheduled this morning was continued by defense to 6/30. Jury trial is currently set to start on 7/11/22.

There may be a motion by Acosta's attorney to continue the jury trial since he recently received discovery. People believe all discovery has been given.

I am doing another post with exclusive information including why new prosecutors have been assigned. Former Deputy DA Jane Mackie resigned May 31.

Leslie Castellano to be appointed to Workforce Board and BOS wastes more money on litigation against DHHS

At the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors meeting on June 28, the CAO's office is recommending that Eureka City Councilmember and Ink People Director Leslie Castellano be appointed to the Humboldt County Workforce Development Board. I am only posting one page of her application and resume. Her references include Gregg Foster and Connie Stewart.

Kyle Zoellner's mother arrested by the HCDTF

Wissel is Kyle Zoellner's mother. I saw her at the courthouse within the last month checking on a potential case. She hesitated when she saw me. At that time, no charges had been filed.

I have covered her since 2016. Last April, she almost lost her plea when she interrupted the Judge and argued with her attorney.

Hydesville PD does not exist

SCAM ALERT: We’ve been notified of a phone scam claiming to be the “Hydesville Police Department” and asking for donations towards a police fundraising drive.

While this scam is likely easy for many of our residents to spot, those unfamiliar with or new to the area may fall victim.

Second motion to continue sentencing for former Humboldt correctional officer

Sentencing for former Humboldt correctional officer and Central Station shooting perpetrator Sean Timothy O'Brien was continued last month and today, there was another motion to continue sentencing. It was granted since the People had no objection.  New date is 7/14.

"The State Bar just gave up."

The State Bar was appealing Judge Phong Wang's ruling  regarding the disciplinary charges filed against Humboldt Deputy County Counsel Natalie Duke and former Deputy County Counsel Blair Angus.

Last month, the State Bar  withdrew their Request to Review. A few people which included members from the legal community in Humboldt and California, people in Humboldt who knew the Magneys and others who have personally experienced the California courts letting them down expressed their disappointment. I agree with the person who said, "The State Bar just gave up."

Another motion to compel in Kalin vs Elvine-Kreis, Brownfield and Reavis lawsuit

(Elvine-Kreis)

(Kalin)

Yet another motion to compel responses from those who should know better.

Writing down dates in former Deputy Public Defender Rory Kalin's lawsuit against Humboldt Superior Court Judge Gregory Elvine-Kreis, former Public Defender Marek Reavis and current Public Defender Luke Brownfield is a waste of time.

Hearings keep getting rescheduled. If anything takes place, it is by Zoom. This Friday, there is a case management conference and a motion hearing to compel further responses to plaintiffs first set of form interrogatories.
