"Trinidad Rancheria has been the subject of harassment and abuse" letter calls out unchecked remarks from Steve Madrone

The Cher-Ae Heights Indian Community of the Trinidad Rancheria has endorsed Fifth Disyrict Supervisor Ryan Sundberg.

This is a Letter to the Editor from Trinidad Rancheria Chairman Garth Sundberg. It addresses some of the claims made by Steve  Madrone.

Press Release:

Cher-Ae Heights Indian Community of the Trinidad Rancheria endorses Ryan Sundberg for Humboldt County 5th District Supervisor. Ryan has earned his reputation of “experience, trust, and leadership.” One of Ryan’s strongest qualities is that he does everything with integrity.

Ryan is Humboldt County’s first Native American county supervisor, and one of only three in the State of California. Ryan serves the residents of the 5th District which includes McKinleyville, Trinidad, Orick, Fieldbrook, Willow Creek and Hoopa. California Tribes located within the 5th District include the Trinidad Rancheria, Big Lagoon Rancheria, and Hoopa Valley Tribe. In addition, numerous Native Americans from various Tribes reside within the District.

Ryan has been involved in major projects such as Klamath Dam Removal, Trinity River Restoration, addressing Tribal Government needs, and working with the rural communities on vital programs and services.

Ryan is an Advocate for Public Safety in the 5th District. Though Measure Z, he has increased public safety; resurfaced roads; installed crosswalks near schools; widened roads for pedestrians and cyclists; maintained ambulance service to communities along Highway 299 and provided upgraded equipment; established residential deputies in the communities of Orleans, Willow Creek and Orick; and completed a walkability study for Willow Creek to enhance community safety.

In addition to his work as the 5th District Supervisor, Ryan is a member of the following organizations: California Coastal Commission; United States Environmental Protection Agency, Local Government Advisory Committee; Humboldt County Association of Governments; California Association of Councils of Governments; Redwood Coast Energy Authority Board Representative; North Coast Resource Partnership, Policy Review Panel; and Tribal Advocacy Committee California State Association of Counties.

Because Ryan is a tribal member he has a keen awareness of Native American issues and the priorities and challenges Tribes face in Humboldt County. Ryan has been a bridge builder and a consensus builder and has worked tirelessly for the fifth district and all Tribes in Humboldt County. We strongly encourage you to vote for Ryan Sundberg, 5th District Supervisor, Humboldt County.

  1. Vote Madrone = more neddles, more drugies, more entitlements. This is the change he and his liberal progressive communist socialist are advocating. Madrone is pro Antifa and Antifa are Nazis. Time for a change is his slogan....we don't need his kind of changes. Ryan is the best supervisor we've had in 30 years nobody,NOBODY works harder for the people than him.
