HCSO wearing mourning badges this week to honor former Sheriff Cox and other peace offiicers who lost their lives

On May 15, law enforcement across the nation will observe Peace Officers Memorial Day, a time to remember and honor our fallen brothers and sisters of the Thin Blue Line. This day of remembrance falls during a time where we honor all law enforcement, as May 13-19, 2018 marks National Police Week.

During this week, Humboldt County sheriff’s deputies are wearing mourning bands across their badges in remembrance of the fallen, near and far. The Sheriff’s Office also honors Humboldt County Sheriff Gene Cox, who was killed in the line of duty on Nov. 29, 1982.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the community for its continued support for Law Enforcement Professionals that keep this county safe. Please join with us in honoring the fallen, those who took an oath to serve and protect, and were taken too soon.
