On September 16, I reported Hillary Colleen Deskins was arrested by Arcata Police Department for PC 487(a), grand theft. I had requested more information on that day from the Sgt on duty. After not hearing for 11 days, I followed up with APD Chief Brian Ahearn last night and he sent me this additional information this morning.
"APD was called to a tow yard in the 100 block of S. H Street on a report of a theft of a cell phone. The suspect was seen on video taking the personal cell phone of an employee from a counter top in the tow yard office before leaving the scene. Other tow yard employees located the suspect outside a retail store in the 5000 block of Valley West Boulevard. APD responded to the shopping center and arrested the suspect. The suspect was booked into jail. During the investigation the phone was recovered outside a market near the scene of the original theft. The phone was returned to the owner/victim."
Deskins has convictions in one 2020 traffic case and one 2022 traffic case; both guilty in absentia.
