Alleged molestor makes offer to resolve case for 1 guilty plea out of 6 counts and special allegation

There have been numerous continuances by the defense for alleged molestor Dean Brown's jury trial so I had been adding updates to the last post.

Yesterday, trial confirmation was continued by the People to 9/15 so Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm could appear. Deputy Conflict Counsel R.J. Leohner is Brown's attorney.

The defense made an offer for an open plea to Count 1 PC 288 (a). Jury trial is currently scheduled for 9/26. Brown is charged with 6 counts of PC 288 (a) and a special allegation of a prior conviction.

There are three alleged victims; all Jane Does are under 14 years of age. The alleged molestation took place at several locations, including the Bayshore Mall, Trinity River and Betty Chinn shelter.

9/15: Conflict Counsel has subpoenaed records from Humboldt Neurological Group. Today, at trial confirmation, Mr. Leohner reiterated the defense offer of an open plea to Count 1.

Ms. Timm told Judge Kelly Neel that the maximum Brown could get for Count 1 is 8 years. He is facing 75 years to life. People's counter offer was for 18 years in prison which Brown did not accept. Jury trial
