"I just found out today that the Times-Standard does not even have a local office anymore."

I received this text from someone who keeps in touch with me from time to time. Someone influential, someone who has been in leadership positions and influential in politics and the business community and knows well how those circles and insiders can be.  Times Standard had moved to 39 5th Street. The office looks closed and I have not seen their reporters in person for a while.

Times Standard and certain other local media are not local news between the PR they do for the good ole boys and gals and the regurgitation and all of them linking CALMatters and mostly press releases that appeal to a small group. Their funders are corporates or local insiders who don't care how most of the people and locals in Humboldt live and survive. As long as their pockets are lined; they are good.

North Coast News and now TS bailing on the community. It isn't just economics. It is the failure of print and TV to keep up with an evolving industry and they do not focus on what matters to most people; just their bubble of self serving and certain local advertisers and insiders.

This is the same person. All day long sentiments from both texts have been shared by many people.
