55 year old Troy Christopher Friedman was arrested yesterday by Eureka Police Department on a warrant for a 2024 case for PC 261 (a)(2) forcible rape. Bail at booking was $75,000. Friedman posted bond.
Charges were filed on March 11. Arraignment is on 4/16.

Confirmation if firearms have been relinquished on 4/30, Preliminary hearing on 6/12. Criminal protective order filed and served.
4/30: Friedman was not in court when case called at 8:44 a.m. He showed up later, provided some paperwork to Deputy Public Defender Ben McLaughlin that firearms had been relinquished and that documentation was provided to Judge Joyce Hinrichs. Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm appeared on the case for the People.
6/12: Oral motion to continue by defense due to ongoing investigation. Setting of preliminary scheduled for 7/29.
7/29: Jane doe present via Zoom. Deputy DA Schaffer appeared on the case for the People. Public Defender Luke Brownfield appeared on the case for Deputy Public Defender Ben McLaughlin. Preliminary hearing is on 9/25.
9/25: Preliminary hearing continued by defense to 10/31 because assigned "attorney is ill." Since June 2024, third continuance by defense.
10/31: Preliminary continued by court to 11/22 because no courtroom available.
