I was the first one and only one, so far, to report on Rory Kalin's second lawsuit alleging religious, racial and disabililty discrimination. Humboldt Superior Court Judge Gregory Elvine-Kreis, Public Defender Marek Reavis and Deputy Public Defender Luke Brownfield are named as defendants in this second lawsuit.
The case was scheduled on December 18 for a case management conference. Judge Kelly Neel called the case at 8:49 and there were no appearances by attorneys or any parties. Two minutes later, still no response. Judge Neel disqualified herself. She planned to recall the case and set this case on the same date as the companion case.
It is 9:25, other cases are being called on the 9 a.m. calendar so I will add the new date or any update later.
Judge Elvine-Kreis' attorney for both cases is Mr. Patrik Griego. Kalin's attorney is Jonathan Hornberger. Unless they hired private attorneys, Mr. Reavis and Mr. Brownfield would be represented by County Counsel.
The links to related post will fill you in on the first lawsuit, if you have not been following regular coverage on the blog.
