Daily COVID screening for attorneys and anyone apearing in person for court

Pursuant to Administrative Order No. 2020-015, all people attending in-person court proceedings will be required to complete a daily COVID-19 screening before being allowed into a courtroom.

The Court has a screening station set up in Room 223, Second Floor of the Courthouse, and will be issuing a daily badge to individuals that have successfully completed the screening.

Individuals that do not pass the screening will be required to immediately leave the court facility and will be provided information to appear via ZOOM for their scheduled hearing.

Remote appearances for non-criminal cases are still required. There are very limited types of hearings which require an in-person appearance. If you have an attorney, please contact them before your scheduled hearing.

With the rapidly increasing number of COVID-19 cases and the elevation of Humboldt County to the Purple Tier, these steps are being taken to reduce the possibility that an infected individual exposes others as a result of appearing in Court.

Balancing public safety with access to justice has been considered as the Court continues to work with Public Health relative to operational impacts to the COVID-19 Pandemic driven restrictions.
