Jury trial for Hugo Aguirre set in May at defense request

Trial setting was scheduled for Hugo Aguirre on December 3. It was continued to this morning since no interpreter was available. Again, on December 16, the last thing that was mentioned on livestream by Judge Christopher Wilson was, "do we have an interpreter?"

Nothing else was said and 50 minutes, later, Judge Kaleb Cockrum took over and started calling the 8:45 calendar.  The case was eventually called. Judge Cockrum is disqualified from the case since he worked for Conflict Counsel and the Public Defender's office.

Conflict Counsel Supervising Attorney Meagan O'Connell is Aguirre's attorney. Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads is the prosecutor for this case.

Granting the defense request for dates, trial confirmation is scheduled for 4/21/21; jury trial for May 3.

Aguirre is charged with attempted murder of HCSO Deputy Rosalie Freixas; attempted murder of Carol Fuentes;  false imprisonment of Courtney Schlapicohl and assault with a firearm on HCSO Sgt. Greg Musson.
