Retired attorney Peter Martin sued the City of Eureka several times. Pacific Legal Foundation filed a lawsuit on behalf of two landlords, one was Peter Martin. This lawsuit was instrumental in The California Judicial Council's decision the eviction moratorium.
When it comes to his pocketbook, it is okay for Martin to evict tenants because that is how he earns a living . But he had a problem when the City of Eureka deals with problem campers at the Palco Marsh and sued the city.
For those who pay attention to actual news, you know why PLF and Martin, the "darling of the local political left" is a hypocrite.
PLF brags about their version on their site. Newsom didn't want to put an effort in this legal battle. He threw money to temporarily house the homeless which local governments, slumlords and shady motel owners were happy to take. The political left and special interests gnored this decision by Newsom because it is "inconvenient."
Locally, some property owners rather see an office and apartment sit empty and increase their outrageous rents even more during the pandemic or do short term rentals which causes more abandoned storefronts and homelessness because they can and have gotten away with this kind of behavior for decades. The elected officials won't speak up and the rest of local media stays silent.
I reported about the PLF lawsuit and the eviction moratorium before. As usual, none of the other local media reported on just as they ignore other "inconvenient" news.
I was looking for a comment local attorney Eric Kirk left whining about the eviction moratorium on my blog but can't find it now. When it comes to money, the left is just as greedy as the right.
Labels and parties are irrelevant in 2020 and have been for a while. It is the corrupt, greedy predators vs truth, integrity and the 99 per cent struggling to make a living.
