If this is just gossip about a Judge, why are funds being used to investigate something that is the preferred pastime in Humboldt? Unless it is an effort to silence people?

In my last post about Rory Kalin's lawsuit about Judge Gregory Elvine-Kreis, I said only one local judge is being sued and there are also a lot of private whispers about his conduct in and outside court.

In a previous post, I mentioned while I may know about personal relationships and affairs in the local courts, they are not relevant unless it is connected to a court case or of public interest. There are other people at the local Courthouse who have indulged in dalliances, some are married men, but none of them are currently involved in a lawsuit where there are allegations of inappropriate conduct with women.

In former Deputy Public  Defender Rory Kalin's lawsuit, he claims that in an outing, Judge Elvine- Kreis was acting inappropriately with women and flirting with other men's wives. I am the only one who reported that the California Commission on Judicial Performance is investigating Judge Elvine-Kreis.

This is a small town. It is difficult to keep things quiet or have privacy.

There is currently an investigation going on about a court employee allegedly gossiping about Judge Elvine-Kreis having an affair with another court employee. I won't put any other details because it would identify the woman. Judge Elvine-Kreis and his wife were briefly separated. Whether it was because of this alleged affair, the Rory Kalin lawsuit allegations or something else, who knows?

Judge Elvine-Kreis has brought a lot of embarassment and national attention to Humboldt Superior Court. If this is just gossip about a Judge, why are funds being used to investigate something that is the preferred pastime in Humboldt? Unless it is an effort to silence people?

Humboldt has a way of silencing the truth and real investigation and the rest of the local media is complicit by looking the other way when it is convenient. That makes my independent and investigative reporting challenging. California agencies that should monitor Humboldt are part of the problem.

This is why regional and national attention is important and so is regional and national readership. Serious readers, especially business owners, attorneys, elected officials, law enforcement read my blog.

Crime Watch Daily did not call anyone else but me when they wanted to cover the Marci Kitchen case. That is just one example. I keep in touch with several people nationally who contact and have contacted me exclusively for my court and blog coverage.
