The Senate confirmed Rachel Levine as assistant secretary for health at the Department of Health and Human Services today. This makes Ms. Levine the first openly transgender official ever approved by the upper chamber.
Two GOP Senators Murkowski and Collins joined Democrats and Independents for the 52-48 vote. Conservatives on Twitter and the usual talk pundits are having a meltdown. Fox News had a surprising artice and headline about her nomination being historic.
Moderate Republicans who actually practice "let a candidate be picked on qualifications" are being destroyed by those in the party that need hate and to scapegoat others to continue and grift the base.
