More money for Frankovich, Ennis, appointment of Public Defender and another potential lawsuit

For those who care about any of these issues and how County funds are spent, the March 25 meeting of the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors agenda has the following items of interest:

Headwaters Fund Board Recommendations, a list of more money for extra help. Many of these positions deserve this extension, especially for social workers because I have seen the need firsthand when I worked for CWS. Note how many Public Health positions are listed. Of those, I have no issue with some of them like the nurses. Why well over a year, in addition to their salary, do we need more money for an administrative analyst, Josh Ennis and Dr Teresa Frankovich? While Ennis and Frankovich no longer do those unnecessary daily media briefings, other employees do. There are daily press releases, a dashboard. Is there any oversight over Public Health time management?

I have written more than a few times about Public Defender Marek Reavis' "impending retirement" and that the BOS should appoint Ms. Meagan O'Connell who previously stepped up as interim Public Defender.

There is another anticipated litigation. We know how well that has worked for the County and what it costs taxpayers.

The mural item is just interesting. In the last month, twice, there is an agenda item involving City of Eureka and the County. What is with the sudden lovefest? The City of Eureka and County working together is a positive development but why now?
