"While he was unsuccessful in his shoplift, I wanted to make sure you had his picture and shared it to warn other merchants. "

Just this morning and already more than one instance of property damage and vandalism in Eureka. The cost will be borne by businesses.

The first incident happened at Mantova's Two Street Music in Old Town. Owner Anthony Mantova sent me the photo.

"This dude attempted to steal a harmonica," said Mantova.  "He was also carrying mail that I am pretty sure he stole from somewhere. He attempted to hide the harmonica in the stack of mail and walk out the door.  We busted him, and told him to leave the store. While he was unsuccessful in his shoplift, I wanted to make sure you had his picture and shared it to warn other merchants.  This happened at 11AM this morning. No police report was filed  because there was no crime.  I did forward the information to EPD Officer Brian Ross."

Officer Ross followed up with Mantova.

The other business is also in Eureka in an industrial area. Their fence was destroyed. It happened overnight so no idea who did it. They are taking care of the damage and I am not going to name them per their request. I saw the damage. Both Mantova and the other business are very appreciative of Eureka Police Department who patrol the areas and are responsive.
