The Yurok Tribal Police Department is asking for tribal residents and interested members of the public to help with the peaceful surrender of Joe Nix to law enforcement.
Twice in the last 24 hours a white Toyota pickup truck has driven down Highway 169 and Tully Creek Road at a high rate of speed in an attempt to evade law enforcement.
“We have credible evidence that Joe is the driver for both these instances, and all of those continuously fleeing from the law need to know - the days of running downriver are over,” said Chief Greg O'Rourke, “All tribal members deserve help and support, and those who care about our community's well being need to help us get repeat offenders to peacefully surrender to law enforcement. Recklessly endangering our residents is unacceptable and is not going to be tolerated. We ask anyone with information to contact us so we can get help for the suspect and keep our downriver community safe”
The community is urged to help us in our efforts to keep all parts of tribal lands safe and to report any crimes to 9-1-1, our main phone number, (707) 482-8185, or contact us through our public Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/yurokpolice
