The Jeff Tsarnas hit and run jury trial did not start until 10:30 this morning. Jurors were called at 9:15, told the trial would most likely start at 9:30 a.m.
Before the jurors were brought in, Judge Timothy Canning asked the attorneys if there was anything that needed to be addressed.
Deputy Conflict Counsel April Van Dyke said, "This morning the DA indicated they intend to call Ms. Barbara Craft as a witness. I received a new statement that was handed to me now. The statement is different than the one previously provided. I need to review it and may have further motions."
Craft is Lorna Leen's sister and Tsarnas' ex girlfriend. At first, Judge Canning said that they would proceed with Dr. Reeves testimony, then stop proceedings so Ms. Van Dyke can review the statement. Then attorneys and the Judge met in chambers. Tsarnas was in the courtroom. Craft took the stand at 11:04.
Lorna Leen is the mother of Chris Craft who was sentenced to 12 years for the death of Brandon Brocious. In Humboldt.
Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees is the prosecutor for this case. Deputy DA Steven Steward is second chair for the jury trial.
