I already expressed how The Sacramento Bee screwed up in previous posts. There is a reason the snitch specifically went to them and no one else. That question still remains unanswered. Why not ABC7 Bay area whose investigative reporting is actually effective and journalism?
The Bee can be smug but that doesn't make the Bee's reporting believable. In fact, money can taint reporting and does not guarantee credibility. The Washington Post had to issue a correction in an article about the Georgia election.
The Bee was too lazy or incompetent to crop screen shots and identified a third officer besides Sgt. Rodrigo Reyna-Sanchez and Officer Mark Meftah.
The screenshot also identifys another fourth officer in this group chat who is displayed as "Tall New Jones." You have to be observant. The snitch didn't really pick a media outlet who is smart or careful to protect the identity of the source. The screenshots are very poor quality.
There are only 6 people in that group chat. In a small town, certain officers work certain shifts and in certain teams. If I can figure this information out just looking at screenshots, do you really think the identity of the officers and the snitch is not already known?
I am not the only one who noticed Officer Cassidy. Look at the screenshots and you can make out that name easily. It would have been very easy to crop out the officers' names. Why is the snitch, the Bee only going after Sgt. Sanchez and Officer Meftah?
If the Bee was really doing an investigation, why do they know nothing about EPD Sgt. Terry Liles and issues being dealt with internally? I don't know if it is an official investigation. The same anti police locals who don't like Sgt. Sanchez also don't like Sgt. Liles.
I mentioned in my previous posts that this is an inside job. Timing of the leak, the way it was handled and the complete disregard for the destruction this has unleashed on these two officers, EPD and the City of Eureka points to a political or personal hit piece. When has the Bee given a damn about anything in Eureka before this article?
Word on the street is that the texts were leaked by someone's girlfriend/wife who was "pissed off." That has also been hinted at by online comments.
I believe in protecting sources. Protecting a whistleblower or a source with information about public interest is different than concealing the identity of some snitch who has a personal or political agenda.
This kind of "banter" in these texts is par for the course in Eureka and Humboldt. Worse has been said to people's faces, in businesses, on the street. How is it any different from the bile some of you spew on your favorite online sites that allow anonymous, unmoderated comments and gossipy, Facebook "community and crime" pages? Should you should be fired for the same speech and have your livelihood and reputation destroyed?
I don't see the same outrage about the current lawsuit against a local Judge accused of serious allegations, including anti semitism. Where are these protestors when sexually violent predators are being released and sent to Eureka and Humboldt?
Where are all you SJWs when the rest of us who risk our lives every day are attacked? You only care about race, poverty and "whatever your cause of the day" is when it suits you. If you really cared about justice, you would fund and personally support those who expose hate and injustice, you hypocrites.
Even after I pointed it out, why has the Bee still not released any information about the timeline or more texts? The information about the timeline was only released in the statement by Chief Watson. More sloppy "journalism" by the Bee.
The Bee got their headline, their half ass allegations splashed all over the country. Did they verify the authencity of these texts? What proof do we have that the racist and sexist texts depicted were sent by Sgt. Sanchez and Officer Meftah? We have seen two screenshots from allegedly months of investigation.
Let's examine just a couple of texts on your phone and damn you for eternity in Humboldt hell. No investigation, no verification, no due process. No criticism because the pitchfork crowd determines who gets targeted.
EPD just put Sgt. Sanchez and Officer Meftah on leave. So now, based on a half ass investigation and two screenshots, a small,rural police department already maxed on resources is short two experienced officers. They could lose their jobs.
Eureka Mayor Susan Seaman explained why the outside investigator's name is not being released, yet. EPD Chief Steve Watson in a Facebook post, "The Public Safety Officers Procedural Bill of Rights Act (POBR) provides each police officer in the state of California with specific rights to ensure a fair and complete investigation prior to the issuance of any discipline. Additionally, the penal code and evidence code prohibit the City from publicly discussing any police officer’s performance or discipline. Therefore it is the City’s policy and legal requirement not to comment regarding ongoing investigations or identify officers who may be subject to disciplinary investigations."
Based on the above, I am not sure if EPD can respond to my inquiry about Sgt. Liles or alleged word on the street about the identity of who leaked the texts.
The California state and local politicians aren't doing shit about mental illness or the homeless except meaningless press releases and a big show of throwing some funds that don't make a dent in the problem. Distribution of those funds is political and subjective. Why don't you protestors go stand outside Newsom, McGuire, Wood's offices?
Why don't Hank Sims and Thad Greenson actually ask tough questions about CA EDD fraud, the delay in COVID 19 vaccines being sent to Humboldt and do real investigative journalism instead of sitting and collecting paychecks from their publishers/bosses who have multiple conflicts of interest and who shouldn't own or be associated with any media.
Hank can't even get his fancy "Booked" tool to pull up the Humboldt County jail report properly every day. All that money and can't fix a tech glitch Hank? Just like the Bee, a lot of money and resources used on what? At LOCO besides posting and linking other people's work; not a whole lot.
Instead of sending emails to the EPD police chief who is busy dealing with the crap you and Bee dropped on the City of Eureka, get your ass out on the streets Hank and Thad and do some real investigation on why this snitch stayed silent from January 2020 to August 2020? The texts suddenly became offensive? Were they not racist or misogynistic before? Why didn't this snitch go to Chief Watson or the City of Eureka first?
People with nothing to hide, those not wanting to destroy someone's reputation and those who have no ulterior motive ask real questions and want an independent investigation.
Unlike the national media, locals know who these protesters are, they know that a lot of comments on Facebook are from people with an agenda and very specific bias against EPD and law enforcement.
Most locals are afraid to talk; those that are willing to talk have been and continue to be targeted in effort to shut them down and their efforts to bring the truth to light.
If the national media wants to cover any local story, they should put in the effort to do some research and talk to locals that will provide them an objective and balanced perspective.
If reporting is effective; it brings real change. Who the corrupt establishment is behind this Lost Coast curtain and who is behind the nasty anonymous targeting and silencing of truth is what the Bee and national media should have uncovered.
Certain locals don't want the truth about Humboldt revealed nationally. They will not talk if national media, TV, syndicate wants to do real journalism. The people "in charge" will point outsiders to certain media outlets. Ask why? Those media who have been around for decades and what have they done exactly to change the status quo? From media to Facebook pages to government to business, there are personal connections only locals know.
