After about an hour of deliberations on Tuesday, and about 4 hours of deliberation today, the jury is hung in the Aaron Arlotta fentanyl case. Mistrial declared.
Originally his charges included fentanyl but after the preliminary hearing, the jury trial charges were Count 1 resisting an executive officer and the special allegation of a serious felony conviction.
Ms. Andrea Sullivan is Arlotta's attorney. She was court appointed less than two months ago. A good defense attorney only needs one or more jurors to have a reasonable doubt.
10 guilty, 2 not guilty. Given Arlotta's record, he should be very grateful Ms. Sullivan took his case.
Deputy District Attorney Jessica Acosta is the prosecutor. Judge Gregory Elvine-Kreis was the trial judge.
Status of trial setting is on 8/17/22.
