A hung jury, less than half the max is how a good defense attorney negotiates a plea

Aaron Arlotta's trial for one case resulted in a hung jury. Today, he entered a plea in two cases. In one case, he entered a guilty plea to resisting an executive officer.  Deputy District Attorney Jessica Acosta said the People are striking the special  allegation of a serious felony conviction in that case.

Instead of a three year maximum sentence, Arlotta's attorney, Ms. Andrea Sullivan, got him a plea deal of 1 year, 4 months in that case.

Arlotta admitted violation in his probation case. Ms. Acosta said there was no agreement regarding time for the probation case.

Arlotta did not enter an Arbuckle waiver. Sentencing is scheduled for September 15.
