"Fuck this courtroom. Am I getting railroaded because these are attorneys"

Kaber Law firm burglar Todd Cravens was sentenced to 3 years and 8 months in prison today.

I did a post earlier with details on the plea and People's offers,  witnesses and resolution. I already reported exclusively and extensively on the break-in and covered his arrest live. This post is about Craven's explosive court behavior today.

Cravens tried every delay tactic to prolong his preliminary hearing. He failed. There were four extra bailiffs ready to escort him out of court today. This in addition to the regular court bailiff.

When he was arrested, he was under the influence yelling, kicking, screaming obscenities. He professed at the time of his arrest he was on drugs, meth was found on him after he was in custody and admitted this again in court today. Judge Kaleb Cockrum had to admonish him several times.

"I am not ready for this hearing," yelled Cravens. "My Marsden motion was denied. I need to prepare.I made a mistake. I am not here to deny I broke in. Fuck this courtroom. Am I getting railroaded because these are attorneys?"

"This guy hasn't even spoken to me. He can't even represent me properly. He told me I am getting a new attorney on Monday."

Cravens then made a motion to continue which was denied. Judge Cockrum told him,"If you are not quiet, you will need to leave the courtroom." Cravens kept yelling and cussing.

"We need to find a place to hold Mr. Cravens," said Judge Cockrum. Finally, Cravens piped down for a few minutes before noon. Then after lunch, he erupted, calmed down and faked tears right when he knew the gig was up and he was going to prison and he took the plea deal and slithered out with a whimper.

After lunch, as we waited for the District attorney and Sarah Kaber to arrive, Cravens off record demanded to know who I was; "Who is this? Because he was at the crime scene and I have seen him here a few times." Judge Cockrum told him my name and about my blog. Cravens then wanted to know if I was going to write about him. Judge Cockrum responded, "I don't know."

Before his plea, Cravens ranted that he probably deserved the sentence, then said he was on drugs and rambled about asking some female attorney who lives across the street for help in getting evidence from the Kaber law office. People in the apartment complex described Cravens as a "peeping tom" when he was being arrested. Today, he claimed he was advocating for women and children by breaking into the Kaber law office. When Cravens was found in the alley and subsequently arrested, he was wearing the jacket he stole from the investigator at the Kaber law office. He admitted in court to taking the checks and money orders he stole from the Kaber law firm. "I wasn't going to sell them."

This rude, demanding ignoramus is just one example of Humboldt criminals who get too much leeway and waste of law enforcement time.

EPD Officer Sollom who was on patrol had to wait all morning. The preliminary hearing didn't even start until a few minutes before noon. Then after lunch, we all had to wait for Cravens wasting more time repeating and rambling his earlier and showing off what he thinks are legal skills which is him knowing how conduct credits are applied if you have a prior strike. A criminal who knows how the system works; what a shocker 🙄
