I sat all morning for half an hour in Courtroom 4 waiting for Judge Timothy Canning to call this case.
No other media was present. Why should they? Humboldt County needs no spin against Karen Paz Dominguez now that the June 7 election is over and there is no election ad revenue to be gained for "lifelong local 'media'."
Journalism and news in Humboldt not dictated by the Humboldt cabal? Covering a case of public interest from a perspective not benefitting the Humboldt Connected ? We can't have that; not in Humboldt!
The agreement to settle this case is on the agenda for the August 30 meeting.
These "lifelong local media" are the same people who have shuffled around for decades from one media outlet to another making no difference in the entrenched system and the good ole Humboldt way of doing things. Every decent former local media colleague is either a PIO or has moved out of the area for a better job.
These "lifelong media folks" fit in well because in Humboldt whether it is lawyers, politicians, non profits, businesses, the same faces circulate from position to position and they are threatened by anyone new or better than them because then they would actually have to earn and compete on a level playing field with actual talent and skill.
I have provided links for some of the previous posts I did regarding this lawsuit. I am not linking all the related posts prior to the June 7 election, the State Controller's reports and the concerns former Humboldt County Auditor Karen Paz Dominguez raised.
