First District Supervisor Rex Bohn and the County of Humboldt staff report is misleading when they say the financial impact of retired annuitants is unknown.

The County has several retired annuitants working; I know those who are working for Humboldt County Sheriff's Office and the Humboldt District Attorney's Office. The County doesn't know the number and their salaries?

Among these retired annuitants at HCSO are some great experienced employees and the County benefits from employing them. Others have their jobs simply because of their connections to department heads. How many of these department heads hiring retired annuitants and these employees are chummy with Rex and a couple of other current Supervisors? All this crap about retention would be more valid if it was not coming from the good ole boy and gal network wanting their buddies and people who are beholden to them for their jobs to double dip.

Is Patrick Cloney, Humboldt's resident whiner on CALPERS going to call Rex out on his sponsorship of this letter to CALPERS? I doubt it. It's a lot easier to complain then address the root cause of the issue and stand up to the politicians costing taxpayers and businesses.

"A retired annuitant is a former participant in a public retirement system, who is rehired by the same employer or by a different public employer that maintains positions under the same retirement system." www.ssa.gov

Maybe if the County was a better and fair environment where hard work was rewarded and jobs weren't handed out to the good ole boy network of family, friends and sycophants, retention wouldn't be an issue?

A tobacco retail licensing ordinance got public comment prior to the meeting. You can access that pdf online.

Second hand smoke is a big issue in Humboldt, largely due to inconsiderate people who think their right to addiction entitles them to stink up the fresh air and endanger other's health. Walking in Humboldt is being covered by an ashtray.

Second hand smoke is not just generated by tobacco and e ciggarettes. Cannabis also generates second hand smoke. This is just another effort by the County to tax and charge fees by pretending they care about second hand smoke.

More anticipated  litigation against the County.

I  learned of a lawsuit to be filed against the County that is more newsworthy. Out of area attorney.  Waiting for it to be filed.
