619 5th Street is right next to the former Banana Hut location in Eureka. Before the Banana Hut closed, the owners were thinking of expanding the space.
The owner of the property is Cynthia Olson. Local chef and restauranteur Christine Silver is planning to open a new restaurant, the Hood.
Silver already owns Delish on 5th, Sixth Street Eatery, the Humboldt Soup Company and mamages the Ecos cafe at the Sequoia Park Zoo.
Every time Silver opens a new restaurant, I have been the first to report the good news. The Hood is a positive development and another option for tourists as well as those who live and work downtown.
