Rita's on 5th to get new owners

Guess after that court case and declining quality for years, new owners was just a matter of time. The new owners are related to Rita's.

Violating Labor Codes has consequences. So does having your idiot, incompetent progeny run your business into the ground.

Last August, Rita's son, Robert Fregoso, pleaded no contest to count 2, a violation of Labor Code 3700.5. The charge against Rita Pimentel was dismissed as part of this plea. Mr.  Fregoso was the more culpable and was directly responsible for securing workers compensation for the business. The Court sentenced Mr. Fregoso to a $480 court fine and a restitution fine of $150. There was no probation. Probation was revoked and reinstated in CR180417 and CR1704755, with time tolled from November 4, 2019. Thus, probation on those two cases was extended approximately ten months."

"During the investigation Mr. Fregoso admitted his fault early, stated he understood the unfair advantage failure to pay workers compensation gave him, and expressed a desire to run his business by the book in the future. While no negotiated disposition ever leaves any party entirely satisfied, on the whole this resolution was acceptable to the People."
