Stacy Lynn French found deceased but was it by a road maintenance crew member?

HCSO has been looking for Stacy Lynn French was reported missing in May 2021 by her family. Her daughter today posted online this afternoon that her mother had been found deceased.

A regular reader of mine overheard someone on the phone saying  that a "a road maintenance crew member found a woman's body on F St by the golf course today and that the body is allegedly Stacy French." This is someone whose tips have panned out in the past but this is a phone conversation that the reader overheard and I am following up on it.

I have contacted HCSO.  They issued a press release the next day.

Another regular reader and someone I know was French's neighbor. According to that person, "she had mental illness from drug abuse."

HCSO Press Release (6/22):

On June 21, 2021, at about 10 a.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Emergency Communications Center was contacted by the Eureka Police Department (EPD) regarding a deceased individual located in the area of the 4700 block of Fairway Drive in Eureka.

According to EPD, maintenance workers clearing brush along the roadway located the deceased individual in heavy brush approximately 10-15 feet from the roadway. A deputy coroner was dispatched to respond and took custody of the remains.

The deceased has been identified as 57-year-old Stacy Lynn French of Eureka. French was reported missing to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office on May 10, 2021.  

Foul play is not suspected at this time. An autopsy is being conducted today, June 22, 2021.

This case is still under investigation.
