Humboldt Superior Court continues to ignore open court requirement

Mostly, it is Judge Kaleb Cockrum who forgets or turns it on late for the 8:30 calendar. Today, it was a Visiting Judge. There was no livestream turned on until the 9:15 calendar. Humboldt Superior Court continues to fail and follow the requirement for open court and transparency.

If you require people to attend and observe court via Zoom instead of opening up like the rest of the state, get your shit together. Defendants appear via Zoom, there have been numerous issues throughout this pandemic. The issues existed before COVID 19; they are just exacerbated now.

Court Operations Manager Kelly Nyberg can't even state dates audibly when she covered for a courtroom clerk.  We have an excellent IT department, court reporters and court staff. The exceptions being Hinrich's and Bartleson's pet employees. The problem with the local courts is the jokers in charge right now that cannot even run a court without multiple issues on a daily basis.

Instead of flitting about from courtroom to courtroom, Kelly Nyberg needs to make sure that livestream is functioning and basic court rules are followed.  Dinky, small town Humboldt court administration gets off on a power trip requiring attorneys, media and public to follow ridiculous rules that aren't enforced anywhere else. This from people in charge who run the local courts like a circus.

Judge Kelly Neel and Commissioner Fran Greenleaf are the only ones who run their courtrooms professionally.

The others Judges and court administration get paid a hefty salary. They turn audio off so they can chit chat with the staff, the bailiffs and their lawyer buddies. They are examples of incompetence and embarassment to the legal profession. They don't deserve respect or their titles. The pandemic has further exposed what someone on craigslist described as the "kangaroo court" in Humboldt.
