SWAT wasted an entire day on this guy for a case that may resolve before the preliminary hearing

Preliminary examination for convicted felon, assault and criminal threat suspect Kyle Muhaw was scheduled for June 10. It was continued to August 3 after the defense made an oral motion to continue which was granted because the People did not object. Muhaw entered a time waiver.

The complaint against Muhaw "alleges a prior strike from 1999 from out of state," said Deputy Public Defender Casey Russo. "We have done research. We believe he doesn't. The People are researching. This stalls early resolution discussions."

Deputy District Attorney Shelly Small is the prosecutor for the case. Deputy DA Candace Myers appeared on the case today for the People.

With his history which I covered in previous coverage, maybe if career criminals are not let out, law enforcement resources could be used more efficiently and the public would be safer.
