No more public health screening to attend court

Once again, the issues I repeatedly raise, result in changes. Once again, while the rest of the media stayed silent, they and the public benefit from my speaking up.

Cal/OSHA screwed up with the June 3 vote. Now more meetings to undo the first incorrect decision.

Effective June 15, the State of California  masking guidance is the same as CDC. Cal/OSHA is creating confusion and unnecessary delay. If employees chose not to get free vaccines; that is their problem and they can deal with the risk. The rest of us have paid the price financially and personally because of selfish people and overreaching government for a year and a half.

At least, Humboldt Superior Court has issued two press releases. The County has not issued any press release. The cities in Humboldt can't even be bothered to inform the public when they will reopen.

Press Release:

The amended temporary rules that CalOSHA issued last week were withdrawn by that agency in a special meeting on June 9, 2021. The more restrictive rules adopted last November by CalOSHA remain in place until new rules are adopted.

The CalOSHA Board meets again on  June 17, 2021. Regulations adopted at that meeting will go into effect on June 28, 2021. Once the CalOSHA rules are in place, the Court will continue developing reopening plans and look at modifications to the COVID-19 protocols and the Court’s mask order.

Until the Court’s COVID-19 protocols and orders are modified, all current rules remain in place for court staff and the public.

Effective Monday, June 14, 2021, there will no longer be a requirement for public health screening to attend court. Individuals who are ill or experiencing COVID-like symptoms should stay home. Individuals who have attorney representation should contact their attorneys.

Effective Tuesday, June 15, 2021, one public access terminal for the Court’s case management system will be available on a first come, first serve basis in Room 203 on the Second Floor of the courthouse and limited to 20-minute use.  Additionally, there are two public access terminals in the law library which will be accessible effective June 15, 2021.

The Humboldt Superior Court Clerk’s Office Lobby located at 421 “I” Street in Eureka remains open to the public for walk-in service from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  The drop box at the Clerk’s Office remains available for filings.  Clerk’s Office staff continues to be available by phone at (707)445-7256 and email.
