Demmeri Carr was arraigned for her hit and run. She has a preliminary hearing scheduled on August 11.
According to a tipster and reader of my blog, "My understanding is that Mr. Terry Long was asked to vacate his long standing volunteer position with EPD. Further, he is allegedly being investigated by EDP for his involvement in the hit and run performed by his girlfriend."
As I mentioned in my previous post, other than this tipster's claim and anonymous comments online, I had no way of confirming that Carr and Long are romantically involved. Based on the limited access to her Facebook page, Long and Carr do know each other and have some relationship.
A reader of my blog contacted me after reading this post. She is someone who knows Carr and confirmed that Carr and Terry Long are dating and living together.
EPD or any law enforcement agency do not comment on an ongoing investigation and the preliminary hearing isn't scheduled until August.
I sent the following questions to EPD Crime Analyst and PIO Brittany Powell.
1. Can you tell me/confirm that Terry Long is no longer a volunteer at EPD?
2. Is Terry Long is no longer a volunteer, is it because of an investigation in the Demmeri Carr arrest?
Her response: "I can confirm that Terry Long is no longer a volunteer with the Eureka Police Department. I can’t comment further on personnel matters."
Long is a trustee at the Eureka Elks.
8/3: Defense made a motion to continue the prelimimary hearing; DA did not object; motion granted. August 10 date vacated; new date October 20.
10/20: Preliminary hearing continued by defense to 12/8/21
