Hannah's family had to listen to brutal details of organs being found near her body, tears wiping out bloodlines and stab defects/lacerations all over her body

(Moore)

Preliminary hearing for murder suspect Daniella Moore started today.  Moore was present in court.

Hannah Hayhurst's family is in the courtroom from what was stated. They were sitting behind Moore and the attorneys.

The motion to exclude witnesses had an exception from Hayhurst's father. He identified Hayhurst at the Coroner's office.

This preliminary hearing is expected to take at least three days and may extend beyond Wednesday. The People have 5 witnesses.

Hayhurst's family had to listen to brutal details of organs being found near her body, tears wiping out bloodlines and stab defects/lacerations all over her body. A bag of crystal white substance was found near the body and a Planet Fitness lanyard belonging to Moore. Moore was known to EPD from prior unrelated incidents.

Hayhurt's intestines were pulled out of her body and placed on her right side. There were other organs also removed, which included her kidneys. All this occurred peri mortem which is at or near the time of death. There was a gaping hole in her body, blood matting her hair, bruises.

HCSO deputies had detained Moore later in Garberville. There was blood outside, inside her car. She had bandaids on her hands and shears in possession. Moore's clothes and shoes were covered in red/brown stains and what appeared to be human/animal tissue.

Moore was calm while she answered questions. HCSO was concerned Moore might be a danger to herself. EPD did a mental health questionnaire before the Miranda advisement.

Assistant Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads questioned Eureka Police Detective Corrie Watson about the discovery of the body, the investigation and Moore's arrest.

Deputy Public Defender Casey Russo is Moore's attorney. His cross examination and Ms. Eads redirect took less than half an hour.

Hayshurt's mother is a former co-worker of mine from the time I worked at CWS.
