Daniel Egger most recently arrested for carjacking, assault, violating a court order was arraigned on two complaints for two 2022 arrests.
Egger was arrested in March 2022 by Fortuna Police Department for domestic battery. He is well known to Humboldt and Mendocino law enforcement.
One case has a first degree burglary charge with a male victim, Nathan Reinier.
OR/bail 8/24; preliminary hearing 9/1. Public Defender's office appointed. $55,000 bail without prejudice set by Judge Christopher Wilson.
The carjacking, assault case female victim is Christina Higgins. $260,000 bail without prejudice.
People who read my blog regularly or pay attention to the local bookings are familiar with Higgins. I have covered Higgins since 2014.
Higgins has poor choice in men and besides Egger has dated other Humboldt County criminals. I have seen her with different men and when I first covered her, she dumped one guy after she got released and showed up with another guy to rub it in his face.
None of this minimizes Egger's alleged behavior but Humboldt courts are filled with drama and criminals dating each other or assaulting each other. I have covered hundreds of cases involving other domestic violence victims; this case won't be easy to prodecute given Higgins' lack of credibility and her own criminal history.
8/24: OR/bail request withdrawn by Deputy Public Defender Adrian Kamada.
9/1: Preliminary hearing for both cases continued to September 6. People request continuance to provide discovery to defense. Time estimate is three hours for both cases.
