Wifi technician arrested for sending himself explicit video from customer's cell phone

Irvine Police Department issued an update with the correct name of Logan Edward Gray-McCannon's employer.

#IRVINEPDPIO - UDPATE-  GFiber has informed the Irvine Police Department that Gray-McCannon is a contractor with ITC Service Group Acquisition.

A 37-year-old installer from GFiber, formerly Google Fiber, has been arrested after texting himself a personal, explicit video from a customer’s mobile phone during an installation. Detectives are concerned there may be more victims of his scheme.  

On September 9, a woman reported in early August, she had GFiber install internet service in her apartment. During the installation, the installer asked her to use her cell phone to “test the Wi-Fi” signal. After 10 to 15 minutes, the victim checked on the installer, but she could not see what he was doing with the phone. 

Later, she discovered that a sexually explicit video she had sent to her partner via text message had also been sent from her phone to another device through iMessage. She found the message on her linked iPad, even though it had been deleted from her phone. Using the phone number, the victim determined it belonged to Logan Edward Gray-McCannon, of Hemet, the GFiber employee who had been in her home. 

On the afternoon of September 11, Gray-McCannon was arrested at his home. Detectives believe there may be additional victims based on evidence. 

Gray-McCannon was booked at Orange County Jail on charges of commercial burglary, sharing a private sexual image of a person without consent, and unauthorized computer access.
